  1. I spoke with the local police about a petty theft and was told the heroin and meth trouble is off the charts. Most garage thefts usually include tools and other common easy to sell hardware. Very happy to hear your Pierce parts are safe!
  2. The best penetrating fluid is a mix of acetone and ATF. Give it a try.
  3. Don't feel bad H-W, you're just sayin what the rest of us is thinkin.
  4. [quote name=trimacar;1403196) I don't think there's anything wrong with doing so' date=' unless the intent is to fool a buyer and thus command a premium price when sold. With time, memories and details fade away....so they'll all be real 100 years from now.... Second oldest profession, Used Car Salesman!
  5. I wonder if it came from Hobby Lobby?
  6. Ok then. All full classic cars should be able to do this. Their size and power put them in a league of their own.
  7. I take my bone stock 1936 Dodge on the freeway, but run in the right lane at 55-60 mph. The rear end is 3.73 , I believe I could go faster, but stopping quickly becomes more of a concern then. My first antique car I owned in the 70's was a 35 Dodge. Freeway running was fine then, the technology of a 40 yr old car was not that far behind in that era. However, fast forward another 40 yrs and the technology has made a quantum leap forward and really left our antiques behind.
  8. I can attest to these Dodge rims being easily bent. In the 70's I had a kid mount my new tires on the rims at a gas station on their power equipment. He knew as little as I did then and the result wasn't good. The wheels wobbled like a clown car! This was on my '35 sedan.
  9. Great job on the outing with your daughter! Cars come and cars go, but quality time with your kids while they're young is priceless.
  10. Welcome Dude, Its always good to see another 36 on the road again. Enjoy!
  11. I'm surprised know one made mention of an essential part of your restoration process, BEER! Nice work, Rogillio!
  12. Just google "antique steering wheel restoration".
  13. No Bueno, amigo. Both the original connectors, male and female, were history on my car due to a '40s changeover to sealed beams. Good luck in your quest.
  14. Truer words have never been spoken, auburnseeker. I have been buying lotto tickets like mad to win the capital to buy your fine roadster!
  15. I wish I had a 1963 Corvette Gran Sport!
  16. Just heard today Seattle Police announced auto theft has increased 44% since the first of the year. I just need to be glad I still have my car!
  17. You might also try googling "shifting a semi-truck." Your antique doesn't have synchros just like a semi- truck. Best of luck.
  18. Best of luck in your quest. In your profile, add your city or state to it. Some one in your locale could have a lead. You never know. I would also look in craigslist for whole cars, too.
  19. I picked up a copy of a 1936 newspaper of the city ( same year as my car) at an antique store a couple years ago. Inside was an special section celebrating the new Weyerhaeuser mill on the waterfront. The mill is now gone. This car show is on that same ground and I carefully laid the paper open on the front seat so people curious enough to look inside might be rewarded by a little area history. I saw a lady peering inside reading it and asked her about it. She was delighted to find this connection! I will return next year to this show and maybe play amateur historian again. But I'm unscrewing the shift knob and puttin it in my pocket.
  20. It's a great thing these kids are being exposed to our hobby. Best of luck with your project. Some of this group will be rewarded with a lifetime of dirty hands!
  21. The theft occurred at the Everett waterfront car show. I wasn't with my car for virtually the whole day, so shame on me. I had a great time meeting other owners and friends, next time I'm away like that I'll lock it up. If this is the worst thing that happens to me in my life, I'm laughing! I try to imagine who would have dunnit? A kid? A sleaze bag? A sleaze bag kid? I like what John S said about grudges. If you hate someone, does that mean you win? So I am begrudgingly removing the pins from my voodoo doll and going on with my life. This is a great hobby and nothing will change that.
  22. What I like best at our yearly picnic is a tour that starts at a separate location and travels on secondary roads to small towns and historic attractions nearby. The tour lasts about 2 hours and it's fun to get all the thumbs up from people witnessing a dozen or more pre-war cars rolling by! The tour then arrives at lunchtime at the show grounds.
  23. ... For reminding we don't live in a Pollyannaish world. ... For reminding me bad things can happen to good people. ... For reminding to stay with my car at the show. ... For reminding me to lock my doors and windows. ... For making me think to leave my car home since it won't trophy anyway. ... For taking my cigar lighter since I don't smoke anyway. ... For reminding me to check e-bay so I can bid on my stolen part. thanks everybody, I feel better now. Steve
