1948 Lincoln Convertible V12
John Kelso replied to Laughing Coyote's topic in Automobiles and Parts - Buy/Sell
What ever happened to restoring a car just for the shear joy of it and just because it is a car beautiful in your eyes. Am I the only one left! -
After looking for 5 years I found my ashtray

Been there too, Makes you feel like the blind dog that got the bone. -
I agree with Keiser31, going back a bit further I grew up in the "its not for sale, I'm gonna restore it some day" era, 60's and 70's. Most of those cars have since rusted into the ground, friend called to offer me a 15 Ford in pieces said he had waited to long did I want it? I see people who have been hoarding for a long time and now reality has finally hit, trouble is no one wants project cars apart these days and we are loosing that part of our hobby willing to take something apart to see how it works. There are some really great project cars and lots of parts coming out of the old shed because the kids don't want it, yes I'm a bottom feeder and dumpster diver. John

I would say 1925 or 1926 I'd be interested if you wish to sell.

Thanks for the help John . I have found throughout the years this hobby requires patience and time. Plenty of the first, not so much the latter.

Thanks guys yes they are 18" and I've been told how scarce they are, but sometimes the blind dog does get the bone.

I have a pair that were originally intended for a 1947 Chrysler, plated by Lebrandy so you know they are first class if interested.

Foreshadowing the Future- State of the Old Car Hobby 1972

Bernie as I read your post about the Prius group I had to chuckle. A friend of mine has a Prius parked between his 32 Lincoln and E Type Jaguar both V12's Says he has to drive the Prius to be able to afford to put gas in the other two, they average about 7 MPG. The sacrifices we make😀 -
What would you do if this guy flagged you down in 1926?

I'd pick him up, I agree with Ed -

Two books I enjoyed were Vagabonds and Edsel the forgotten son of Henry Ford. None of us should be the same person we were in our past, we are all shaped by our past experiences. All history should be viewed taking into context the times -

Post the question on the Lincoln section. There are several posts about the distributor and coils. Some knowledgeable Lincoln guys hang out there.
-
If you looked closely he was moving the distributor cap as if a clip were loose. As we all know if the timing chain were broken it wouldn't have restarted. Gave me a chuckle too.

What kind of car guy do you self identify as and why

Eclectic, I get bored after restoring a few of the same and need a new challenge. My two Grandfathers were like that with businesses, guess I was doomed. -

HOW OLD IS TOO OLD TO BUY ANOTHER OLD CAR?
John Kelso replied to Dynaflash8's topic in General Discussion
Toby Keith wrote a son for Clint Easwood's movie the Mule titled Don't Let The Old Man In. In it he asks "How old would you be if you didn't know when you were born" Some days I get awake and feel 16 again others I feel my age. I work in my shop accordingly. -
