I'm NOT in favor of picking on those that don't have the computer skills to post real pictures.  At one point ALL of us had to learn because we didn't know how to do such.

We should be better than that, WE don't know this person, he may be a very nice fellow, what happened to folks giving a person the benefit of the doubt?

Anyone scammed DIDN'T do good home work, and how do we know it's in a shed, or if is even close by.

My point is why are so many negitive/assuming comments posted without solid facts to back such up?

I don't need ANYONE to tell me a scam MAY be the case, we ALL need to do our home work, then scams can't work.

Just because someone THINKS it's a scam, isn't reason for us to believe such.

Sorry That does`nt make things foolproof in this day & computer age .. times have changed !! ..we are entitled to freedom of speech yet within reason on this forum. And your opinion has been duely noted..

My personal opinion thru public banter  I personally believe offers another  opened door to more information & the experiences others have faced purchasing thru similar ads & thats me  doing  my homework... You might see it as "scaring members off"  But I see it as "cautioning members".. Sometimes theres more ways of doing things than just the  right way & some of us are well within our rights to exhibit  a Mexican type of authority where we  can presume anyone with a less than ordinary Advertisment...  guilty until they are proven innocent ..,  & the bottomline is,,  you dont have to like it ..

Everyone has prolly heard the old trite cliche what does "assume" make? I know about the last part, you and me! People are trying to have a reasonable time to make members aware of a car they might not otherwise find. If they get a hard time before people even get a chance to check it out, maybe the next person wont use the form to try and give us first crack at it. Maybe more to think about regards this. OK Buick People: I'm with Dale.  If one wants a car that bad here's the drill.......as I see it

Contact the seller.

Ask pertinent questions.

If you're out of the area get decent pictures.

Re-contact the seller and discuss the car and logistics.

Settle on an approximate price, one the seller would say work and you would be happy with, with out making an offer.

Go and physically look at the car, put it in the air, take a test drive (what ever is appropriate for the application), check it's paperwork status, check on the logistics, how much to transport, who's gonna transport, ask when it can be picked up, ask how long before it can be picked up, ask to physically see the seller's ID, the title and registration, ACTUALLY CHECK on it's DMV status.

If a car looks too good to be true in the add chances are it may be a scam but nothing is guaranteed. I remember looking at a car way below market and didn't call because I thought it was a scam. It wasn't. The seller was legit and just needed his car to sell. When I did call it had been sold that day. I saw it for sale later on for much more from a legit flipper.

Bottom line? If we slow down and do our homework we will be so much better off. If we fear that "deal" won't be around for too much longer it REALLY is time for us to re-evaluate things.     Mitch

The seller probably took those pics some time ago, the car is back in the garage and he doesn't care to winch the two ton beast back out for fresh pics , can't blame him for that..... if it was a fitty fo rag top for $2K I'd be on the phone with him and looking for somebody to go look see instead of frettin about it being a scam. . If I was still buying fitty fo's that is.

Now let's get back to talkin about the car and who is going to jump on it ;- )

It's only four hours from my house and the sun is shining. I could check it out this afternoon.

I've never had problems with scammers. At least they have never been as bad as me scamming myself. Once I get the idea that I want something there is no level of pragmatism or sanity that is going to divert me. At the end of that 4 hour drive I would be oblivious of the $10,000 a year for the next 8 years that would be the minimum outlay. AND all the stuff sitting in the garage unfinished at the moment.

Take 50 one hundred dollar bills to your local Buick dealer, fan them out, and say "I've got cash to spend."

The car is a bundle of dreams for the cost of a few days of professional therapy. I know. That's the unfinished stuff in the garage.

…. what the ^&%* - it's s worth that much n parts alone even if the frame is rusted out below the floor pans which well may be the case since the seller stated he was going to find another frame to set the body on.  But if you have a mig and some 18 gauge sheet metal laying around and so on and so forth, it may just become a finished gem or likely just another project unfinished planted outside next to your shop just waiting for that love n attention.

FYI I also spoke with the seller.  He wants $5k for it.  It has some rust, can't be sure how much without seeing it.  He has been storing it outside under a tarp for some time.  The front clip and all of the chrome has been removed since the pictures were taken.  He says the pictures are from last year, but that seems unlikely.  If I hadn't found mine already, I'd own it.  Heck, if it was within 100 miles I might also have owned it depending on how flexible he would be with the price.  He says the RR bumper end is gone btw, and the other side is rotten.

Those bumper ends were prone to rust out simply by design having the exhaust go through them (heating up and cooling down with the crap that gathers from the wheels) and while an indication of possible rust elsewhere, that extent should be looked at carefully before presuming the car is that bad.

My Limited chrome rear quarter panels and wheel trim rusted out where they attach together on both cars but deep frame rust was not an issue with them. Not saying this Buick doesn't have that issue, just saying my experience.

Wish it was closer too..... (then I woke up)
