1939_Buick
Rust on roof can be an indication that is had a *plastic* non breathable cover on it. Looks like the heater sprung a leak at some time---> new carpet May just be the sun, but to me the right front fender a different shade of blue. From the engine photo the bolts/rust marks for fenders are not the same left vs right. Would take $$$ to bring it up to reasonable, but not show, standard.

The 55er
Sixteen grand? Ouch. Not really for sale, just another overpriced fishing expedition. Needs way too much work for the price. Dings, scrapes, faded & mismatched paint, worn, torn, warped & faded upholstery....and rust bubbles too. Another model that looks better without skirts. So what's the real mileage? Price should be cut in half. 6
Oldsfan
I bought a nicer one for $250. OK, that was 1987...
alsancle
I like it. Too bad about the interior.
deac
These 61 Olds bubble tops are one my favorites. But this one is overpriced and not in good condition. Someone will have to spend quite a bit of money in order to get this one up to a decent condition. That someone won't be me. GLWTS

While some cars and pickup trucks might be acceptable as survivors in this condition, the styling of this particular '61 Buick is just too cool and dramatic to not be restored to its original glory (in my opinion.) It's "survivor" condition suggests that it needs nothing...maybe to justify a higher price. Edited March 26 by JamesR (see edit history)

The distinctive design of this Buick 61 is simply too captivating and impressive not to be restored to its former glory, in my opinion. The use of rust-resistant varnish could be beneficial in protecting metal surfaces affected by rust, such as bolts and car wings. Before applying the rust-resistant varnish, make sure to thoroughly clean the surfaces to remove any traces of rust and dirt. See you soon, It's an Oldsmobile. rocketraider
And Karim is trying to peddle rust resistant varnish. I asked a Greensboro friend if he knows this Oldsmobile. He doesn't, but he does know of Rumley. Says he has some very good stuff, and a lot like this one. Appears to have a low compression four-barrel 394. HydraMatic, power steering and brakes, and standard cable operated heater and ventilation. $16k is "optimistic". $4500 is closer to realistic and that's provided it runs, drives and stops without issues. Overpriced 1961 Oldsmobiles seems to be a thing lately.
