Steve_Mack_CT
This looks pretty good at $45k in or near Buffalo, NY. From a fb group, not marketplace. A lot more pics in the ad. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1261076087332034/permalink/5121452477961023/ Edited October 26, 2022 by Steve_Mack_CT Added pic (see edit history)
auburnseeker
Must have to be a member. Bummer. Looks like a great car. I really wish I had the funds. Anyone want a $40,000 33 Plymouth coupe?
Steve_Mack_CT
Yeah I thought same. Assuming some room in price, not that much more than we paid for the 40, but one car is 90% sorted while I am guessing another $10 to 15k will be needed on this one. Plus, Mrs Mack's one request was that she could drive the car regularly. The 40 feels like power steering, it is really easy to steer, shift and stop. So no complaints but this still feels like a pretty good deal. Now two open Packards in one year would be a feat... 🤔😁

Steve_Mack_CT
John I agree with that excellent idea, but I suspect the CFO's office would not approve such a purchase despite a willingness to move the A along and make some space... 🤔

Also let her know that as CEO, there is a company car and driver that goes with the title. And then put on your chauffeur outfit, and bring the 733 up around to the front of the house and open the door for the lady, I mean CEO. 1

Think how you can take a whole complement of friends along on an outing, though who has to ride on the folding jump seats might be a matter of drawing straws. Gearheadengineer
I am not sure if I should be happy or sad that I cannot access the ad and additional pics. I have a thing for large open cars and have always wanted something from the late ‘20s to early ‘30s. And a Packard would be icing on the cake. Then I remember how much I love my current cars, and the way I use them fairly regularly. Pretty sure I am not going to drive a ‘30 733 to Advance Auto to pick up a few items. Or leave it parked on the street near the marina. But dang that is one seriously beautiful and tempting car shown in that photo!

Steve- 10-15k to make that car sorted? Nope…….it’s gonna take a lot more. Car looks decent, but on a big 30’s Classic……..figure 25-35 if you have to pay someone. Money doesn’t go far anymore. Sad, but true. Photo below, two cars parked at the Tiki Bar about 100 feet from the dock……….It’s a great watering hole at the Port of Palm Beach. We park them in the police cars only spot………haven’t got a ticket yet! I recommend the “Pain Killer” special………works as advertised. Met Ozzy Osborne there at lunch on day.

The car is completely intact and has run as is. The parts are just extras and spares. Asking $45K or best offer. Located just south of Buffalo, NY. It did run well anytime it was driven in parades, weddings, etc., but it has been a few years since it has been started. Ed, your advice on sorting is a great consideration, as you said, agree this is a good deal, but about right parhaps given the sorting cost. Seller may well be pretty informed and priced accordingly. Very cool car for right person. @prewarnut perhaps? 😉 Edited October 28, 2022 by Steve_Mack_CT (see edit history)
Walt G
I own a twin to this car, very nice to drive once sorted out to the way they were when new. Mechanical brakes very effective if all are in good order and well "tuned" by someone who knows Packards of this era. They ride well, and steer well also , not heavy and "trucky" to drive but if you are going very slow and need to maneuver a lot due to lack of space, yes you will notice it is not "power steering" in the manner a car 45 to 50 years newer is. Very nice car at 55 mph too. Walt

Looks as if the windshield is raked too much along with the top brows. Steve
Walt G
Here are photos of the windshield area and side of the top area on my car. ALL properly correct . Note that the 7 passenger touring cars ( they are not phaetons) used the oval coach handles for exterior door handles. I would like to buy any of these - Packard or not as I am doing research on who made them , when they were in use, on what cars , body styles etc. for a story I am writing. Condition of plating does not matter. Sorry of the "want ad" but figured if you are reading this you may know of some. I need to send my kids off in 2 years - then I get to play.

Actually, the folding "jump" seats in a 733 Touring are surprisingly supportive and comfortable. During the Glidden Tour held a few years ago in South Carolina, my wife and I drove our '30 Packard 733 7-passenger Touring. Friends and their daughter and son-in-law accompanied us most days, and the six of us - all quite ample folks, rode in amazing comfort.
