m-mman
My pet peeve, posting the identical pictures over and over. (how many side views did this guy post?) But no information about which engine this has (6 or 8?) and no under hood or bottom pictures despite having a lift. Then of course asking the price of a driving sorted car. If it was in my neighborhood, it might be worth driving by but not worth a long distance call.
PlymouthPE
Painting over the dealership script on the rear trunk lid shows a lack of attention to detail. I wonder what other shortcuts were taken to get the car ready for market.
B Jake Moran
Yes not a $17,000 car. Right!-Is it a 6 or 8???
neil morse
But interior looks outstanding, you have to admit. I love the '48-'49 step down dash -- such a great combination of primitive and futuristic, like Flash Gordon's rocket ships from the '30's.
Hudsy Wudsy
I wrote the guy. It's a six with 60,000 miles on the odometer. It's not his (that's always so dam convenient). He doesn't know if it has an overdrive. I'm afraid that the paint doesn't look very good when you study it. Still, if it were close I'd want to look at it, but it's in NY and I'm in MN.
Peter S
always check the uni psuedo frame in the rear on a rustbelt stepdown.

Years ago, when I was searching for a ‘52 Hornet, I’d get under the rear of these cars and +squeeze+ the unibody ‘frame member’. Sometimes, the only thing holding the shape together was rust molecules, and my fingers would go right through the ‘former’ sheet metal.

Hudsy Wudsy
I have to say that I've seen similar paint jobs respond well to being color-sanded and rubbed out. The trouble is, you just don't know until you try it, whether it will look OK when you're done. I don't mind the price, but cost of shipping it to Minnesota chills me! (It's currently -14 degrees outside).
kingrudy
I think that unless you aggressively price a car like this, trying to sell this in the winter when it is located in the NE is a tough sale.

auburnseeker
So it's actually sitting on a lift and no pictures underneath. Leaves me to suspect it's not very good. If it was, they would be touting how good it is.
The 55er
There must be more work required here than meets the eye. The car appears to have been in storage somewhere for a long time. It says it's running off a temporary fuel can (doesn't say HOW WELL it runs) and the tank needs to come off, so it will require fuel pump & carb servicing too. The tires don't match from side to side. The brake system probably needs overhauled as there are 2 bottles of brake fluid & a wrench near the left front wheel. The paint job doesn't look so great either, there appears to be orange peel & dry spots throughout, maybe a quick non-professional backyard do-over from years ago. On the plus side, the chrome trim looks serviceable and the front seat looks good. These little pictures on a computer screen can make a 74-year old vehicle look promising but after being advertised for 2 months with no takers there must be some major issues to be addressed here. Start adding up the costs to correct all these possible flaws and there's probably a good explanation why it's still for sale. 1
