mike_chapman
There are a number of contemporary Land Speed cars with Buick S8's. Their performance is quite impressive.
mike_chapman
In retrospect, Buick S8's in the performance world are well represented... obviously not as much as other brands.

Rex bought it from Joe who also lives in central Kansas. The 63 Riviera is Bronze Mist with Saddle leather, pretty much fully equipped. I tried and tried to get Joe to write the back story and submit it to the Riview but he never did. The back story on the 63 is that it was John Hadl's signing bonus when he signed with the San Diego Chargers back in 1963. Rex told me that I can be part of his pit crew next summer when he starts running it. He has his NHRA license but needs a fire suit and wants some experience with Nitro-methane before he put his foot into it. 😁

Then Total loss of traction while airborne would be one of those "Oh-$h++" moments. Kind of reminds me of my misspent youth, and the time friends and I dropped a 401 Buick into a substantially modified Henry-J. Lack of a Locker Rear really hurt us at Old Bridge (NJ) 1/8 mile dragstrip. Edited April 21, 2020 by Marty Roth (see edit history)
