Moondog13
Hey guys! Some of you might already know this car, it's a '42 Convertible that was customized at some point in the '50s, supposedly for a film but I just think it was someone's Sport Custom. Needs full restoration although it was started by the previous owner who passed away, due to his passing the interior is missing and it has no engine or transmission. I got laid off so it has to go. Floors are in great shape and new rockers have been tacked in. To be honest the car is quite solid with good floors and only some rot in the quarters, comes with the dash, a number of spare parts including the missing firewall piece and some convertible interior trim. Clean Florida title, last titled in 1988. I am asking $3500 or best offer, car needs to go ASAP. It is located in Coral Gables, Florida. I would like it to go to someone on the forum so it gets proper love and doesn't become one of those rat rod things that are so popular now so I am trying to hold off on the auction site route. Hahah. To see a discussion on the car you can go here: Edited September 4, 2017 by Moondog13 (see edit history)
jackofalltrades70
Not sure what year. Is the data plate on the firewall on the passenger side? The floors are definately not original. It is a convertible buick body. Trying to guess as to what the two holes are for in the body where the convertible top should be or the back seat area. Even though you have a title, my state would have to verify the number against the data plate. More info and pictures, if and when you get time Thanks Matt

Number on title match the data plate. What would you like pics of? ^__^

Hey Mr Earl! Yes it is! The front end is in an efficiency the folks have in the back yard with the hood and the extra parts. If you need help moving it out I am sure I can ask a couple of friends to get over there and pull it out for you. The actual chassis and body sits on the straight portion of a circular driveway so back up your trailer and winch her in! ^__^

smithbrother
Fast eyes see LITTLE, stare like an owl, then the actual body lines of the tail appear. I do a lot with shadows in my art work, fun process. Dale in Indy
Moondog13
Hey guys, I'll take a running/driving trade for it. Prefer a full size pickup truck with some back seat space. Looking at moving back to the states and I'll need a car to get around.
MrEarl
moondog, I have an automotive design acquaintance who worked at GM when the Blackhawk was built who finds this car very interesting and may be contacting you? Moondog13
Hey guys, it's still up for grabs. I had an offer for a trade that I was waiting for all month and it just fell through. The guy's wife didn't let him do it which sucks as I bought a plane ticket to fly into Miami this weekend to hand the car over. -__- If anyone wants to drive down and grab it this weekend... hahah. ^__^

g-g-g0
Did we ever determine what model it is---Special, Super or Roadmaster from the information on the data plate?

Moondog13
Hey guys, here's the tag on the firewall, I also bolted the front clip back on the car and loaded up all the parts into her so she's ready to be picked up. It also brings it's doors, hood, a lot of convertible-only trim that is probably worth my asking price, including the dashboard which is missing the radio and speedometer, front windshield trim, door sill trim, top interior door and back seat trim, a waterfall grill, sun visors and arm rests Edited September 4, 2017 by Moondog13 (see edit history)
jackofalltrades70
Guess we will never know as the tag on the firewall is not original. I don't even think PA would accept that as is "homemade" and not original.
MrEarl
Looks like they were planning on installing a '54 waterfall grille.

I don't think you would have an issue with the state since you would be registering it with a clean state issued Florida title.

They still check the VIN to the title and if the VIN tag is not original or looks "fabricated", they will question and then could open a can of worms. They would then refer the car for a VIN check, upon which they would have to try and find the same number on top of the rear fram rail. Which, by the way, cannot be seen because it is between the car body and the frame. And would probably need to be scraped or wire brushed to be able to see the numbers. I love the car, just we were hoping to see the model number in the body tag to better identify the body style. Matt
