  1. Thank you very much. VERY INFORMATIVE!
  2. I agree with Tom. The method i use to determine that is to run a hot wire off the positive of the battery directly to the 12v side of the ignition coil. If it stays on , your problem is in the ignition circuit somewhere between the switch and the 12v side of the coil. The problem is most likely at the connector in the back of the ignition switch. They get hot back there sometimes even to the point of melting the connector plastic, causing a poor connection. I had the same problem as you and that is where the problem was. Good luck
  3. Cholos did not ride like that Ed. Hydraulics, rabbit ear antennas, sometimes fender lights, custom paint, 520x14 tires on dynasty’s or rockets, glass packs, crush velvet interior ,best 8 track available ( pioneer at the time) and a color bar. This coming from a former cholo living the life in L A. Cruise night FRI. SAT. SUN. On WHITTIER BLVD after the house party’s ended, until the EAST LA SHERIFFS broke it up. Funny how they never messed with the hot rodders further up Whittier Blvd in the city of Whittier. Anyone with a foxtail antenna or cucaracha horn would have been considered a lame and run off the Blvd.
  4. I got 2 3/4 turns lock to lock. So i guess better that H2 not as good as yours Tom. I like , works for me!
  5. Never realized how much of an improvement bilstiens provide till I drove your car. A world of difference. Makes the car a lot more fun to drive
  6. You are probably right but no plans to change them , trying to keep car as original as possible. The car had spacers when I bought it but I took them out because I did not like the look at the height it was at. Air shocks will work perfectly for my situation.
  7. To get in and out of my drive way without scraping the mid portion of the frame.i plan on using a compressor with one air line to each shock. Not looking for huge improvement in handling just something better that what the Monroe’s i currently have provide.
  8. Wondering the same thing being i am installing air shocks on rear of my 65 Rivi. Hope someone with bilsteins in front only will chime in.
  9. Not long ago there was a post here where a maroon looking JEEP color was used. It looked real good.
  10. Is it exactly 2 1/2 turns lock to lock? I have 2 3/4 turns lock to lock.
  11. So if you got the quick ratio steering you can assume you have the H2 springs?
  12. I agree .have a starting point and eliminate it. I suggested making the electrical as a starting point by using a simple method.
  13. I'm not a scientist so I can't offer a scientific diagnosis. These cars are not that complicated that it takes a scientist to diagnose a common problem . How bout you offer a scientific diagnosis instead of knocking someone who is trying to help. What I offered was based on personal experience.
  14. It sounds like an electrical gremlin. Try running a wire directly form the battery positive the the coil ignition switch side then start the motor . If it returns back to normal I would look at the ignition switch. Be aware that once you start the car in " hot wire" mode, the only way to shut it down is to disconnect the hot wire. Make sure you have NO GAS LEAKS ANYWHERE near the hot wire attachment points when doing this. Good luck
  15. I recall seeing on this forum where a member made a bar to work with what i think was a 2 post lift.
  16. Sweet looking car. That looks like a custom made spinner. Wish i could help with more info
  17. Do a continuity test and verify that the wire coming from the F terminal on the back of the generator is the one that actually lands on the F terminal of the regulater. Do the same with the R terminal. Make sure you disconnect your battery before doing this. Then check each wire for continuity to ground , then check for continuity between the two wires. Al this must be done with both wires disconnected on both ends. Good luck
  18. I think there may be a reverse polarity issue going on some where that’s causing the regulator chattering and light to stay on.i know its too late now but i always try to have original to the car components rebuilt i.e. starters, generators ,etc. whenever possible
  19. Man great info! Mine does the same thing. Always thought it was because the springs were old and worn out.
  20. If the gaps between the rear of the door and the quarter panel are wide and ugly , the edge guards help
  21. When trouble shooting electrical gremlins always best to start with the most Simplistic approach. Being that it is a turn signal that is exposed to the elements , it is more likely that the problem is due to a pour connection because of oxidation. Not ruling out the switch or wiring from the switch to the socket, but being that the rear light works , leads me to believe that the problem is at the socket. I could be wrong, as we all know electricity can do some weird stuff!
  22. Here is how i would approach this problem. First of all the fact that the rear stays on indicates that all is well there. So the problem is most likely at the front. You need a voltage tester that has a probe that will reach into the socket and a test wire like the one Bernie showed. Take the socket out of the housing and attach the test wire to the socket metal where it bites into the signal housing and the other end to a good ground source like the bumper. Turn the turn signal on see if the lights work. If yes , you have a grounding issue. If no , turn off turn signal remove test wire. Get your voltage tester and attach the alligator clip end to your bumper. Turn on your turn signal and CAREFULLY insert the probe into the socket and make contact to the end of the wire at the bottom of the socket taking care not to make contact with the metal socket housing. If your test light does not light up , you have a problem with the positive feed wire to the socket. I should have said at the beginning, make sure all contact points are clean shiny metal. No oxidation. The interior And exterior of the socket , the wire end at the bottom of the socket, the cars signal light housing where it makes contact with the socket. Also before you do any testing test you voltage tester at the battery and make sure the turn signal light bulb is good. Sometimes they are bad right out the box. Good luck
