What do you pack for spare parts on long trips
Caballero2 replied to 195354's topic in Buick - Post War
Two water pumps. one of them was probably a piece of junk too. -
I went through that on a '63 that I had. If my old memory works, and I remember, there was a panel in the splash pan of the inner fender. Hope this helps.

1957 Century - Slight vibration troubleshooting...
Caballero2 replied to Yohdda's topic in Buick - Post War
One thing that is overlooked is the grease fitting for the universal joint just in front of the differential. There should be a access hole in the torque tube housing allowing access to the fitting through the housing. With good lighting, and the wheels off the ground, one can rotate the driveshaft to an acceptable position. -
55 Buick century, how to firm the ride up a little ?

Be aware that this is a very rare model if the firewall tag confirms that it is a model 68. If so, the wheels and hub caps look correct. I would bet there is no horn ring; only a horn button. Even better if it has a standard transmission. Oh, and a bigger engine rounds it out. One thing you might check to see is maybe a heavier front sway bar. look for something around one inch in diameter. You might like the attached photo. -
When and where was my Buick build - no tags

I found my build sheet for my 57 model 56R under the floor carpet on the passenger side. This is what it appears like; -
The Special And Century's bumpers are shorter than Super and Roadmaster. The wagons have an air defector strip along the upper edge of the center section. I have not checked the end pieces part numbers, but experience notes the exhaust openings are larger for some. I would expect that the vehicles with 10:1 compression engines may require better exhaust flow. otherwise the seem to fit all the models. Dan

This car was originally sold at Bill Dreiling Buick. I sold it to a collector in Wyoming who repainted the blue into red. He in turn sold it to someone in Florida. The spotlight was aftermarket and is the give away. The original interior was red and white. The now owner has restored the car nicely and added a luggage rack, wheels and tires. I was not the original buyer, but the history was in its papers and went with the car. Oh, the car was equipped with power seat and factory air conditioning. And one other thing, the radio antenna is an aftermarket '57 T-bird reproduction. The original Buick would retract to about 6 inches of remaining exposure. Not so with with the reproduction. In the photos it is shown retracted. -
I am posting a redacted copy of my letter to the plastics company. Do with it as you will. Maybe with an expressed demand the plastics company may respond. With anyone's success with the use of the die, he or she may consider it theirs with my permission. Note... They did locate the die. October 27, 2015 Tim Dailey Hi-Tec Plastics 11380 Smith Road Aurora, CO 80010 I have enclosed a sample of an extrusion that you made for me in 1991 along with photographs of its final application on 1950s GM station wagons.. Also is a copy of your original quote. I am asking for another quote for 1000’ using the original die if it can be located. This extrusion was delivered in shipping tubes containing units cut length of 72 inches. The material was clear semi-rigid PVC. Yours truly,

The Bonanza is no longer yellow.

I ran into a similar situation a few years back. A mounting cap screw for oil pump had loosened and backed out far enough for the counterweight on the crankshaft to knock the screw out. the results were a dead engine, the distributor would not rotate. The oil pump housing was trash. If your problem is like this, then the pump would leak pressure and oil before any revs would be detected by the pressure switch. I hope that in your case this is not true. but "stitch in time saves nine". Dan
