1. I am restoring my spare manifold to fit on my Senior later in the year. Would it have been originally enamelled, painted, not treated and what was the original colour?
2. Could you post some pictures? I wonder if these gears be fitted to the Senior sender, my sender gears appear to be so worn that the unit has now stopped working.
3. I don't think they did. It is worth looking through garage repair books . ThIS extract came from a 1933 "Motor's Manual".
4. What is the difference between a Stromberg OE-2 and OX-2 Carburettor? (other than the position of the throttle and manifold flange) . I am thinking of fitting one instead of the TX-2 it was originally fitted with.
5. And now the really difficult job - getting the sender to work properly, but maybe the one on your car works.
6. I use Morris oils, their 600w "straight mineral gear oil" is rated 250 S.A.E . The gears are only engaged in 1ST , 2 ND and revese not 3rd .The thick oil (I believe up to 1923 grease was added to make it even thicker) helps to slow down the gears when changing up and down as well as lubricating them
7. I am also unable to log on to their site. "Oops! Internet Explorer could not connect to www.myersearlydodge.com"
8. Ron, I thank www.vintageandclassicreproductions.com make spare back plates for the 2249.
9. The chassis number should be on the right hand frame, in line with the (LHS) drop arm, it is stamped high on the frame near the body work.
10. the 2249 (1927) has a torque tube, the 2251 (1928) has an open a tail shaft drive.
11. I wish my car had your car's 20's rather than the 19 that are original for my car, no one seems to make a 600x 19 tire any more ,I am fitting 550/600 x19 firestone's.
12. Thank you for the photographs, my 2249 has an incorrect electric wiper ,time to go hunting .What size tire did you fit on your Senior?
13. A photograph would be helpful.
14. Is the steering box shaft splined? If it is, I personally would not use it .
15. It should have a taper spline shaft .
16. I do not belive I have made any mistakes. The notes on W.E.CO are to do with the product licencing not fitted componets; plainly W.E.Co wanted to retain and control their domestic (U S A) market. The braking set up and M.B. C diagrams I posted, except for the LHD or RHD versions, are the same for all 2249 Senior's.
17. Hi Ron, The Master Cylinder p/n 212136 ;if it is similar to the one fitted the 1928/29 Plymouth U ,it would make a good substitute and be much easier to restore.
18. My 2249 is fitted with a W.E.Co 200525 R H D (200506 L H D) Master Cylinder assembly. The parts book is a bit confusing as the Master Cylinder supply tank 's number is 200929 RHD (200327 LHD ) the actual Master brake Cylinder that is fitted inside the tank is P/N 200362 I believe the M.B.C was changed when Chrysler took over Dodge. 212136 will be that replacement.
19. I would add that it is a good idea to have a pair of welded shackles drilled together and fit them as a matched pair. An alternative to welding ii to drill out, plug with good quality steel and then re drilled.
