  1. I had thought that mine were original to the car ,but after eighty years I could be wrong. If you fit a replacement Stabilizer remember that the front ones are different to the rear ,they should not be mixed
  2. The large nuts on my Watson's are steel, I hope the rest of shaft is as well. Yet another thing I will have to keep an eye on!
  3. .Thank you Ron, I would like some showing the pinstripe for my records.
  4. I understand that. Which part of the body is the upper and would the wings, wheels and chassis all be the include as the lower color ?
  5. I was looking at VOL 1 NO S.13 Service information April 1928. This is a list of paint colors. Most Dodge Seniors seem to have two colors. What is meant by "When two colors appear on the list for one car, the first is that used on the upper part of the body and the second color that used on the lower part of the body"?
  6. The pair of curved cathedral kick plates would fit the style of rear mudguard found on a 1915 to 1923 Dodge.

  8. A set of Original 1920's kick plates
  9. A set of early 1920's Kick plates comprising a pair of curved cathedral and four curved valance kick plates. They are made of brass alloy and are nickelplated (worn). They came from Australia in a box of Dodge spare parts £200 +postage /shipping
  10. Pity about you dislike of rusty bolts, as I have a lot of new/old stock BSF bolts and some nuts, I cleared from a garage workshop 20 years ago.
  11. . I have fitted heat shields to a couple of Vintage cars to stop vaporising problems. Modern Petrol behaves a lot differently from petrol even of thirty let alone 80 years ago. A number of years ago I was following 1930 Alvis 12/50 it's exhaust pipe was glowing bright red, quite a sight, something that didn't happen with low octane fuel
  12. Do you know where I might find some more information on this type of lathe?
  13. It might be an idea to PM oldcar , hopefully he may able to help you find somebody who is able to rebabbiting your engine bearing;( he lives in Victoria) .If it was my engine I would put the X on both surfaces.; as for the circle grove, assuming you mean it becomes a circle when both part are put together, may be fine for a high pressure oil system, but not for the splash and hope ,Dodge engine. The subject of cutting of spiral or x droves on the inside of bronze bearing, is a source of great irritation to me. Modern machine shops appear to have no idea how this should be done , they seem only able to machine a circular or straight line grove. How should it be done?
  14. Fascinating. Thank you for the information. I think I will remake a new needle ( pointer) from brass shim rather than the steel one I have fitted.
  15. My rebuilt petrol gauge using a vintage and classic reproduction new base plate. I broke the original needle (pointer) and have had to make a replacement. All the tapped screw holes line up perfectly, unfortunately to make the original core fit I had to grind quite a lot of the inner surface (1), the winding (11) stands proud of the dial mounting plate (111) I will have to fit a shim to get everything squared up.
  16. Ron kindly emailed a photograph and information.I bought a new base from Vintage and classic reproductions ,the coils work ,hopefully the needle will as well. I have not looked at the tank unit yet, I would be most interested to know what work you did on yours
  17. I am restoring my 2249 Dodge Senior petrol gauge ; Unforchantly three of the wires from the windings have broken from the two terminals. Would anyone have a wiring diagram or a photograph of the disassembled gauge?
  18. Thank you Ron. I will let you know how I get on.
  19. My Dodge Senior's fan V belt broke the other day, I don't know if it was the correct size .What are the correct dimension for a 2249 V belt?
  20. .Wow, that is extreme! Over time rubber goes hard with age ,strong light and a hot environment.
  21. When I bought my Dodge Senior 9 years ago it was fitted with very old 19x600 Olympic's; the rubber had become very hard with age, this caused three of the car's rims to split running on our very bad local roads . There is no shock absorbing with an old hard tire ,I was luckily that there was no other damage to the rest of the car. Fortunately the Lincoln's 600/650 are still supple
  22. The Dodge had a slow puncture last week . I fitted the spare which last year had punctured when I was driving and as it turned out the tire was very badly damaged; I was driving home luckily my wife was following me ,She alerted me, thinking something was stuck on the inner tire wall. Not only has it split but the rubber is no longer binding to the core. I was surprised to find that the tires are all stamped " seconds".
  23. Thank you. My spare 600/650 x 19 tire's side wall split on the inside a couple of days ago and is a wright off. As they will all need changing in two to three years time I have bought a 550/600 Firestone as a spare and will fit them all round at a later date
