  1. Those guys would probably be supervisors checking the quality of the vehicles coming off the line. They might also be engineers depending on when the build date. If early in start up during the launch period they would most likely be there. As for not being on any previous production lines, if production supervisors I would bet most of them came from the hourly ranks that worked on the line. I know I started life at GM working on the line and got off when I finished my undergraduate degree and ended my career in Engineering.
  2. I said, "I think Chevelle's also had that style of vehicle(meant wheel) in that era, but not sure."
  3. That would be the final inspection line just before the car goes onto the roll test station and front end alignment station.
  4. That information is consistent with our Corvette that we have owned for 45 years.
  5. Our '76 Corvette hat that style of rallye wheels as standard and the aluminum wheels were an option. Standard: Optional The car came standard with Firestone 500 radial tires. We have had the car since 1978 we bought it with 7,500 miles.
  6. Wheels looks stock for the year. Aluminum would probably been an option. I think Chevelle's also had that style of vehicle in that era, but not sure.
  7. What affect has alcohol had on gasoline and car engines? It is a very good cleaner.
  8. They will not even break a sweat doing your wheels. I was there the last time to pick up the wheels for my '13 and they were making heavy duty freight wagon wheels that were about 4 ft tall.
  9. I have been to the Sapulpa, OK Historical Museum. It has a 1923 or '24 Buick truck there. A Model S-4. Thanks for the tour. We have been to many of the places you have documented on our trip down Route 66 and some other not shown. A good trip for anyone interested in history and culture.
  10. That must have been the ultimate tour on the opening of the Dixie Hwy.
  11. Agree. They have done four sets of wheels for me, most recently my '08 Buick and '12 Model T.
  12. That goes along with my saying "Just because you can does not mean you should"
  13. Is the engine original? If so more pictures of the engine, both sides and of the drivetrain including differential would be helpful.
  14. Not old enough to have raced him as I did not live in Detroit, but I did talk to the son a couple of years ago when he was displaying his Dad's car. Interesting story. I wonder why he is selling the car.
  15. I would think it is gas as it appears to be a radiator in front of the front axle.
  16. Amazon seems to have lost their edge. Not always the best place to purchase items. Don't get me wrong, they are still good, but they are in the process of laying off 18,000 persons.
  17. Clark street plant in Detroit. The area is now a depot full of shipping containter and other industrial activities.
  18. I too painted a metal exterior door with Rustoleum and within a year it looked "chalky". Not the best IMO. For the paint from tractor supply, I use the tractor paint. It seems to hold up well, at least from my experience.
  19. That is a cool collection. I remember a couple of those when I was younger. First & third pictures for sure. My how times, styles, and speeds have changed.
  20. I will start this out with this contribution. I do not think you would like to slip back too far in the seat.
