  1. Ship, I would suggest you time through Hartford during rush, and also Waterbury and Danbury can also be congested. I will take I 84 and than a slower route on US 17 through NY, probably make a three day trip (as I am not getting any younger), stop in Bath, NY and near Toledo, OH so I am down to about 6 hours driving each day. Dr. says I also need to get the legs moving every couple of hours, so I do not get a clot. For you, I would suggest you avoid Hartford, take the MA pike to Albany and drop down, probably the way John D will be going and take I-88 to and from their West, eventually connecting to I-80 west. John.
  2. Forrest, Do we assume you have already purchased this car? What parts are you seeking, and where are you located? Also welcome to the forum and you should consider joining the BCA. Info elsewhere on this forum. As noted above, give Dean Tyron a call for info. Post in Pre War or Buy and Sell for specific parts needed. John
  3. Being pot metal, and any replacement will be equally brittle, I suggest you take the parts to a machine shop and have them fabricate a replacement from aluminium block. Might be expensive, but worth it. I have several similar parts in my '32. John
  4. And, a third welcome. Hope to meet in Brookfield. John
  5. I think these cars may be a bit blended, or at least done in personalized paint schemes (as opposed to BCA judging standards), but still nice cars. John
  6. Lamar, The second seems to be an after-market heater. If it had been mounted in either car, you may be able to match holes in the firewall. Someone should be able to better identify the years the heater was first used. John
  7. Lamar, You can "save" some money, by buying two and using a two car trailer, or maybe all of them with a tractor trailer. John
  8. Lee, I suggest you go to the Reatta Buy/Sell forum and find the Selling Your Reatta thread. It has a format to use to provide info. Photos are also helpful. I might be interested depending on details. John
  9. From my perspective, the cars set as CCCA classes are not shrinking in number, while active members are likely shrinking. I don't think car cars have gone away, just perhaps the number of owners are shrinking. I do not think expanding the types or cars eligible, will correct the individual membership issue if that is what the problem actually is. I am just looking at this as an outsider, with no real concern one way or another. Maybe there should be three clubs, pre-1915 Horseless Carriage, CCCA from 1915-1948, and AACA everything newer. Would solve a lot of problems, but maybe correct some more. But, let's avoid issues like the "Museum". Just my two cents. John
  10. Chuck, We all know the '32s were meant to fly like a Hawk. I too am curious, as I have not seen one. John
  11. Brian, Congratulations. You picked up some good hardware there, glad it was a short trip, without incidents. John
  12. Always progressing, always improving. Looking forward to the results. John
  13. Yes, my '32 small sedan was owned by a doctor from new until his widow traded for a 1951 Buick. She banged the passenger side against the garage on a regular basis, so I am guessing the '51 never got into the garage. John
  14. Mark, You can check their web site, but I think it is both, as long as the are Miller Offys. I think you know Steve Hammett of Buick Brass, but he is alsoon the Yahoo Forum of Racing History. John
  15. My thought (and this is probably why I do not have a trunk on mine) is that trunk was not made for the small series cars, as the trunk should probably fit inside the reversed rack. If larger, than it should probably mount on the stainless steel side. Than you have make sure the lid does not hit the body and that you can fill the gas tank with then newer pump, otherwise you have to transfer with gas cans. That is about the time I gave up. If I have crowd and need to carry something such as folding chairs, I just strap them down good. Also, the "flipped" rack will probably lead to rust as it will not drain and dry easily. John
  16. I can appreciate Loren's impact on my forum users, some via other means, but I think I am correct that one criteria of the Buickman Award was participation in this forum. I see he has fewer than 100 posts on this forum. I do not want to be confrontational, but that could come into some discussion on all candidates. But I also recognize the impact of the Performance Group recently into the forum. Just my thoughts at this time! John
  17. While not listed in the addendum of the Meet, as noted in the April Bugle, there is running of antique race cars at the historic Milwaukee Mile Race Track on Friday and Saturday. I plan to be there Friday afternoon, so my preference is Friday AM and hopefully we can get space at the host hotel, as I think breakfast is free for guests of that hotel, but I will have to check in my file. Can we work out something there and maybe som eone can ask the BOD to shift to 10 AM start?? John
  18. Should we consider Rita an "enabler" of these antics? John
  19. Its not even loaded on the "publications" section yet, never mind the mail. John
  20. You guys are having way too much fun!! John
  21. schultz23, You might also try Jon Henry in MA at 508.245.9093. He has some 23 parts. John
  22. Derek, Tough job you have. Hawaii is good any time of year. John
  23. Neil, Please consider joining the BCA, if you have not already done so. John
  24. Brian, I have looked over the published menu and the photos of the restaurant, including the "farm fresh" vegies and seasonings. Looking forward to this dinner. I think we need to put together soon something for the folks not on the forum, by means of a newsletter. I will send you a separate e-mail. John
