  1. I have the smallest series, so I would be interested. I believe you are in WI. Will you be coming to the National? If not sold before then, this would save you time and effort to package, and for me, no chance of damage, unless I do it in traveling. I will get mine measured. John
  2. Assuming my health continues and stays strong, Bea and I will be at dinner. Depending on my situation, I am not yet sure of bringing the '32, so may have only a two-seater for the tour. I will stay aware of this thread, otherwise I would be glad to give Mark and Rinda a ride, unless the prefer the "cargo" option. John
  3. If I am correct, as in '32s, and others, the buyer, could order side mounts at an extra option, at a cost. Same with sedans and mostly the smaller series, as larger series had side mounts only. John
  4. The weather people say will be 50-60 degrees tomorrow, no joke, but I will let you know on Sunday. John
  5. Yes, The original photos seem to indicate a sizable inventory. Should be easy to remarket, based on the conversations here. I would consider a set for the '68 Riv, if the proper size and price. John
  6. Thank you all for the insight. My first project is to get me Riviera set for Hemming's Councours in the fall. Then on to the Reatta problem. Spring is just around the corner hear in CT. John
  7. The thread on the fuel pump replacement got me thinking about my problem. The day after returning from Allentown, I sprung a fuel line leak, just after forward in the long line connector at the fuel pump. I am told the coupe and convertible are different, and Marck Barker was able to get me a used one rather quickly as the replacement line is no longer available new. It seems an internal caused damage. My question is does it seem an ethanol created problem, or some excess pressure, or simply a faulty line as there was no evidence of external chafing. The car seemed to run fine with the leak only minor while running but started to create a puddle by the rear of the drivers door when parked. I have two questions. Any one else have this problem? While a tag says "Do not repair", repairs could be done, as few replacements are available and basically if one wanted to replace the line, is there a source for the unique fittings. I have yet to take the replaced line to a fuel/brake line specialist to see what they can do with the existing fittings. Any comments? Thanks, John
  8. Friend of mine, who currently has a dead computer as well as manifold problems with his '49 Roadmaster convertible, is seeking both manifolds for his car. We know these are difficult to find but someone may just have one of each available. You can contact me by PM or e-mail at j.scheib@comcast.net or call him direct - Mike Sullivan at 860.523.1405. Thanks, John
  9. Larry, Good for you. No chance in CT, we have about 18" on the ground and still coming down. John
  10. hopeful, A bit confusing. Do you have a question about the meet? John
  11. As Regional Coordinator for the NE Region (Pittsburg is not my area), I encourage you to try to find some people in the former chapter that have an interest and some others that are in the area below NW PA that have an interest (you only need 10 members, and apply for a new chapter charter (a shame to lose this area that had two chapters to none. It does not take too much commitment to get a chapter going, but sometimes a challenge to sustain it. This area including Appalachian and NW PA are in the Great Lakes Region with Ron Stebbins, my counterpart. I assume you are a BCA Member and have these contacts on the "mailer label" on the Bugle. Also on the web site is "How to form a Chapter" John Scheib
  12. Derek, If Ed cannot make it, I am about 20 miles south of Springfield, or Munson. I do not believe I know the car. John
  13. This is definitely not a '32 as the headlights are different, radiator the same. What series it is not clear but it does not look to large. So likely a 50 series. The alternate is a 90 series, large car. There were no convertible coupes, or sports roadsters in the 60 or 80 series cars. The best a can tell is that the weight listed is 3095 pounds, which matches the Model 56C in the Standard Catalog of Buick. As the windshield folded forward, my bet is someone fabricated cushions for the glass to rest when the windshield was down. So, I think this mystery is about resolved. Do you know the date of the photo?. I must say, even in 1964, that must have been quite an adventure in a 30 year+ old car. Hope you were not in the rumble seat alone. The car looks in excellent shape at the time of the photo. John
  14. I am checking with a source to see if he has one. But, for long term, and considerable medium to heavy use, I suggest you consider have a stronger one made. John
  15. You're welcome. I suggest you join the BCA, to be able to meet some members, rather than feel like someone outside, looking in. John
  16. Greg, Some may correct me as I may be wrong. But a $20 registered guest is only in addition to a club member that would be registered for the show. Non-member guest that wants to register; cost is $60. See the registration form for what is included. But if you only want to see the cars, there is no fence and no charge. Thanks for your inquiry. John
  17. John always does like to "jump the season". Mine are under blankets, except for the driver, and that goes to the car wash this time of year. Of course, John, being more removed from the ocean had sunshine today, we in CT had mostly clouds. Little in the way of shadows. Of course that means, if this was groundhog day, we would see spring sooner. So there you go. John
  18. If someone wants to do a search, I am sure you will find that this story has been around a time or two in the past. John
  19. sjocad; I take it you are a new member of the BCA. I would first suggest you post and ad for "Want to Buy" on the Buick Buy and Sell section of this forum for a wider interest. With that Membership Number in the BCA, you should have been receiving Bugles for some years. As you have your BCA number, you can contact Pete Phillips, the Bugle Editor for a free ad at pphillips992@@gmail.com. Just write up what you are looking for and contact info. Include your member number. If you have the correct BCA number, you can go to buickclub.org and under Publications by your number and name log into the Bugle on line. If I can help in any way regarding the Club, or possible transport, temporary storage, you can contact me directly at j.scheib@comcast.net. I am on the east coast. In the meantime, I will see if I can find any such cars. Here, they are also hard to find. John Scheib
  20. Brian, I will get working on that. Someone usually has an agenda, but I have no word on that. I find I do not have Kris' current email address, as I thought she was serving as the "lead" person. But I will try to reach the National Met Committee. The forum meeting, started as a breakfast, then lunch (first one at Hooters), at Allentown, Happy Hour. Next year maybe Midnight, if the trend continues. I will let you know what I learn. John
  21. I promised to look into this in more detail, and find the event is called Millers at Milwaukee. Google It. One of the driving forces is Dana Mecum of auction fame. It is a gathering of vintage race cars, most of which are driven a few laps over the course of two days, Friday and Saturday of our event. The cost for spectators is a "haughty" $25.00 for any or all of the two days. Being somewhat familiar with vintage racing, it appears their is no formal schedule of events, but I would assume things will be a bit quiet during lunch. The cars seem to be mostly Offy -Miller engine powered, other cars would be allowed for club membership. The owners have some deep pockets to keep this event going, as the charge for spectators would barely cover insurance for them. Although the Buick Bug would be before many of these cars, I, for one, would like to see it on the track, but it sure would not handle like the newer cars. I hope someone reading this has some influence with "Buick". I would expect they might be bring some concept cars to Milwaukee and should be able to fit the Bug into a trailer along with the cars. Milwaukee is a bit closer to Flint than Allentown. Everyone have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Let the countdown to Milwaukee begin. John
