  1. Derek, Just catching up on the forum. Glad all, except the car, are OK. John
  2. Karen65, Welcome to the forum, and I strongly urge you to consider joining the Buick Club of America (BCA) and the Riviera Owners Association. We have a BCA local chapter (Yankee) centered in the Hartford area, another centered in New Haven (Nutmeg) and yet another, Danbury and south and west into NY (Lower Hudson Valley Chapter). You should consider at least taking a look at one Chapter near you to see what we do. Yankee Chapter will have a show at Wallingford Buick on August 20, so if close, please join us. Best to probably contact me by direct at j.scheib@comcast.net . John
  3. D Yaros, I guess, if not noted elsewhere, we should explain, if you are a BCA members and just want to "spectate", you will not be allowed entry to the hospitality area unless you have a registration. Some may want to consider registration for the modest fee, without a car registration to really note the "Buick Club of America" experience, especially if it bad weather (heat or rain) becomes a problem. John
  4. Simon, I wonder if Pete Phillips may have on of those in his inventory. Send him a PM. John
  5. I have a '68, but do not need a fender, as mine are in good condition, but I might want a spare. Could you post a photo and I will try to suggest a price I would offer. You can contact me by email at j.scheib@comcast.net
  6. Now all we need to set a definite day, or days, and time, or did I miss something (as I thought we were still trying to clarify). Breakfast is still ahead in the poll. John
  7. Bill, You have friends in Stillwater. Texans in Cowboy Country?? Say hello to Eskimo Joe's for me and my son (two generations of Cowboys) who will some day own my Buicks. See you in Brookfield. John
  8. Congratulations to all, both winners and those that did not capture enough votes (definitely not losers). John
  9. Roy, Amazing what you can still get for $15., the late reg. fee!! Seems like about 30%+ increase what you had about two weeks ago. John
  10. Found this one, probably too late. If sale does not go through, let us know, as I am interested. John
  11. I may be wrong, but I think we no longer do "safety check" John
  12. As is often the case over the years, some are not satisfied about the quality of judging too which I say, get knowledgeable, go to judging class and judge, especially in a class you know and especially if you know about a class and you do not have a car in that class. John
  13. Grant, The tag on the firewall should give you the year and model of the car. Next you will have the engine number to se if the engine falls in the year range. There was no "numbers matching" , "back-in-the day", as they say. John Scheib
  14. Ed, was this a rerun of the first show of the season, where he found, and bid on the Minerva (one of one special bodies car). If so, Jon Henry and I can tell you a lot about the cars. The burgundy touring now resides nearby, as well as some other stuff. I can tell you more about the cars and where they were. I can maybe get some more photos soon, if there is any interest.. John
  15. keninman, I think you can take the two above "to the bank'. Why, because the 57S, Prince Blue Light, over Prince Blue Dark, is mine and is a BCA recognized Gold Senior, as I suspect is the other one, a 57. There are many things wrong with the car you are considering, and I suspect just to find and replace the incorrect parts would be in the thousands of dollars, if that is the route. My opinion is not worth more than $2000 if it is running, but who knows how bad. Unless he has all correct bumpers, headlights and horns I would stay away. If you are looking for a driver, as is, you can fix up to better along the way, and would consider a 1934, I can get you in contact with someone who has one. But it will be more that $4500, for sure. And it is about 100% correct, two door coach. Let me know by PM. Incidentally, those photos cam from Hemmings Classic Car, June 2012 for the full article. John
  16. I'll bet it was her sign that motivated the buyers. John
  17. Barney, Thanks for your suggestions to him, but I am confused as to just what his question/questions are? John
  18. Pete, Well stated. Hope everyone is aware of this. I like the part about meat-head. John
  19. I think it is too much water over the dam to change especially as this forum reaches such few people in the hobby , so to me NOS means never used old stock. Gaskets and similar products should not be expected to be original and still be usable unless some sort of vacuum sealed and that would not be likely. Also, one would expect probably some surface rust on unused parts. And yes, some are still found. As the saying goes, "buyer beware". John

I think a lot depends on condition. Do you know what year it came from. What do you mean, complete with carbs, as most only have one two barrel carb. if two cabs that is from 40s and quite rare if good. If you can clarify this, I might be able to offer a bid. You can write be direct at j.scheib@comcast.net Sorry, just re-read this. You said two two barrels, so the only question is condition. Or, are you looking to buy? If selling, photo showing condition would help. John
  21. Dave, Looks like we will be traveling the same route. If you decide when you will be leaving, maybe we can connect along the way. I might be able to get to Jamestown for the first stop, but I had not planned going that far first day. Let me know. JH will be going but I am not sure of his route and time. John
  22. Welcome to both Danny and '51 Super. Tell us more about your cars. John
  23. Just wanted to mention, while traffic around Hartford is still busy, with government lay-offs and firings, plus reduced work in the private sector, the traffic, at times, during rush hour is somewhat reduced from previous years, in my opinion. I think the new TZ bridge is not yet complete, but our friends from LI have little choice. John
  24. Lamar, I think you should be able to find, in a search, some prior communication on this, but as I understand as long as the car was built in US originally, it is imported duty free. But be careful you have nothing hidden inside. Who knows what regulations might be in force. John
  25. Oh yes, by the way, watch out for deer on I-80, and it is a bit boring lonely ride. But you may see a few Buick travelers along the way. John
