  1. BDad, I happened to get in the mail the latest edition of the Riview which is the Riviera Owners Assoc. Club Magazine: The annual meet was in Kansas...The Long distance award (p.16) was for a member that drove from Canada 1400 miles, Second furthest was from Maryland 1300 miles Both Members were driving '63 model year Rivieras.
  2. If I came across a 63 in solid mechanical/body/cosmetic condition I would not hesitate to at least consider it. The 63 is the smoothest drivetrain of the 3, basically the grandfather of what now sells as a CVT Constant Velocity Transmission. It's the only year offered with leather, it has BUICK written on it, the engine and transmission both built by them ...arguably the coolest cockpit ..all plusses in my mind. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss They are great cars! If you come across one that catches your eye, do yourself a favor and experience it! All three years are desireable, distinctive and unique... Steve
  3. Buy it through here and 20 bucks off the buy it now price, Steve https://www.ebay.com/itm/202416144327
  4. These on/off systems are not so much for fuel savings as they are EPA mandated pollution reduction. The idea is 5 years from now there won't be big invisible plumes of smoke over your nearest city red light at 5:00 on a Friday afternoon. As noted earlier, there will be a big plume of smoke over the starter motor factory instead: they will be working OT with all the starters that will be getting replaced prematurely...Steve
  5. I wouldn't touch it for the world. I had the kind of cars where I was chasing after every speck of imperfection. Today I had to pick up a customer check at their house, had a dump truck on the highway in front of me for a couple miles, I would of been miserable driving a showy car. Likely wouldn't of brought it to work in the first place. Would of been too worried ..Anyway, after I passed the dump truck the road was ground up to get repaved for about 4 miles...asphalt kicking up etc... nothing happened but it was a Nice Ride. Don't get me wrong it gets taken care of,but everything right now matches consistently. Replace one part with new and the game begins. the piece next to it looks like crap... Lou Adzima made the kit, he advertises in the riview. He doesn't make the splash guards anymore, he says can't find the material. I got a set from RUbber the RIght way, the sheeting is half as thick as original Steve
  6. Heres my jack set up, about 30lbs of confidence
  7. must have a base with little or no corrosion STev
  8. The chrome removes fromunderneath too...when bottom half is removed more screws are revealed for upper half but go backwards, to get to your turn signal ACTUATOR ( wherre your turn signal stalk activates)requires removing the steering wheel with a steering wheel puller
  9. They make out in the back seat too
  10. the 64 Manual has a directional signal chapter 10-61 The instructions are lay on the floor with your head by the gas pedal (the switch is mounted about a foot from the firewall on the steering column), remove the quick disconnect plug, remove two screws and you will have your switch in hand. you might want to scribe a mark on the switch where the screws are. as they have a slide adjustment. all you need is a mini screwdriver to ease off the harness plug and a 5/16 open end and 5-7 minutes. Bring some spray grease with you, give a couple shots to the joints of the emergency brake mechanism and the door hinge pivots Stev e
  11. Last time I went to that extreme I left the rear duct out..cant think of the las time I had a rear passenger in the winter in an old car.Plus if you block the duct you'll get more air flow up front. The old timers used to disconnect the cigarette lighters too ...those ducts are like kindling. Steve
  12. Mine had the original for thirty years...this second Lou Adzima set at twenty four years old still don't look as good as yours Haha This one'll never be a museum piece, drove 3500 miles in it so far this summer OOOHHRAHH Steve
  13. $62 gets them to your door media mail. If you want tracking it's another $6. All in good to very good used condition To me that means no missing pages no obvious writing, no greasy paw prints
  14. I agree I think your interior is nicely done and in keeping with the original look, you probably have some cracking under there and that served as a simple remedy and "upgrade" for the prior owner... a win-win.. With all that said I will hand over the torch to you to get these made for the riv owners that might desire one, I would think this is the piece that would get the most stress of all of them, the long one behind it moistly hangs from the armrest. This V piece is the one everybody presses on with excessive pressure to get those old window switched to operate. This way I can put my door panel back on my driver ( and DRIVE it) plus I dont have to lay out 900-1000 bucks and hope to recuperate... never did like the "HOPE PLAN"! All good news..I get to wrap up and drive tomorrow AM, Sounds good to me! Steve9236
  15. I'm guessing you have a 66 Paul?
  16. It's the base the pwr windows and seat latch onto in a custom interior, you may have the standard interior if so it doesn't apply, Steve
  17. Plastic same stuff a s a pipe: PVC only the drivers side...it'll be a while
  18. Hey Pat it's Steve from Wayland MA, I see you in CT now: You gonna be the NE Coordinator again maybe?
  19. I don't need to fix it, this one is perfect I was asking if anyone knew particulars of making a batch of them with this one as a template. My brother in laws neighbor is going to make a dozen, will see if there's a calling for them, Steve
  20. Apparantly there is a $$$Pricey repop out there, mine was cracked apart, I was fortunate enough to come across this one. Once it goes on the door it's not coming off. Is there any expertise regarding the process of reproducing these? If so, what might a minimum run be and the cost for the project? Size is a roughly 16" by 5" by 3" deep Just a thought.. Steve9236
  21. Arnulfo, glad it worked and the best thing it made the difference you were looking for For me keeping these toys in proper running condition and driving them so the tires wear out is reason for ownership. Steev
