  1. rap with a rubber mallet then I use a tool similar to this: New windscreen wiper arm removal pliers, free postage | eBay works every time
  2. In answer to your question: nailhead valves | eBay "Buick rodder" is a good knowledgable supplier. They can be reached here: CENTERVILLEAUTOREPAIR.COM I wouldn't go pulling out the credit card til a bit more research if you have a 364 in a 65 there are some significant modifications to your drivetrain. I am befuddled as to if you dont know what engine you have you would go and buy 364 pistons? Steve
  3. collector car price guide says 23000 for a #2 condition and 26000 for a GS I suspect the owner of a true #2 would not be overly excited to sell at that price. Most nice cars are 3/3+ condition cars, #2's are close to perfect in all regards, at least in my mind Opinions vary greatly LOL
  4. in your picture it looks like the grey cardbard panels are original, the tire cover is original ( was standard) and the trunk floor liner looks replaced last I knew, replacements were available and will look closer to your floor liner material Here's one place: https://ssl.corvair.com/user-cgi/pages.cgi?category=contact If you decide to toss that original one i will buy it. steve
  5. base Lesabre was a 2bbl 300 V8 9:1 compression 4bbl was the upgrade. I didn't know the 65 300 were cast heads, sounds like they dropped the compression a bit, too All the other big cars came with a nailhead standard
  6. It's a 300 4 BBL 11.-1 compression. Not a lot of performance add ons available My 64 had aluminum heads, if yours does too buy a sacrificial anode on ebay to put in the radiator Basically an economy engine akin to a 289/302 in a ford wagon, it'll do the job. High compression will need the best gas you can afford so you can time it properly. Looks clean!
  7. If youre lucky the prior owner shut it off quickly as the damage was happening, then gave up on the project (hence how it ended up in the desert). Usually there would be more damage than what were looking at. You might be lucky: dismantle, inspect, if it's good by eye have a machine shop test it. Good luck
  8. threw a rod? EDIT: Awful clean in there. looks like the block was apart not to long before it busted, like it was fired up and sortly after grenaded.
  9. The plastic ends on the cables break apart. But the seat has to come out. Undo the sillplate and remove the seatbelt so the rug is loose to find the bolts.
  10. its a stock type kit with instructions, gaskets, check ball, idle mixture screws, acc pump etc. Made in USA for todays fuels. as with any core look for slop in the throttle shafts and bush them if needed and look for corrosion on the base of an afb Youre going to use their specs for the fuel bowl/float settings. use a a wood drill to set the float drop and set it while the new gasket is in place I believe their accelerator pump rod is a whisker different too. It's far from rocket science, and no bloody knuckles or heavy lifting LOL
  11. Not the best, not even an expert but have been using Daytona Parts Home with excellent results. Their kits include an revised "float valve" over the original style needle and seat and in my opinion dramatic improvement over stock The kits are about 50.
  12. That car's old enough to smoke if it wants to.
  13. 1600 in trucking plus mass tax on blue book retail (7-800) squashes it or me. Looks to have solid bones and an interior kit with other potential bonus features Maybe rebuilt powertrain=good. Maybe=BAD States exhaust was replaced. Most of the trim thats missing or damaged I likely already have...Hmmmm
  14. You would have to drive the car off a cliff to get in the yellow zone of the vacuum gauge
  15. would need more pics, but with a full interior kit included it seems like a nice low optioned package deal if someones able to haul it away 1964 Buick Riviera | eBay
  16. I would ask the rebuilder what he requires assuming its got a warranty.. I use numerous name brands 10w30 and started adding 2/3 a bottle of zinc additive since SM isnt around anymore I know no reason a 430 requires anything different than a nailhead or any other BBB teve
  17. Those solid rubber tires are quite heavy. I prefer to fill the original tires with exactly 2/3rds a can of family size expandable foam. The air pressure malady is resolved, the tires hold the weight of the vehicle and the judges are none the wiser. Just make sure to not lose the correct valve stem caps in the process.
  18. Vintage Motorola IMTS Car Phone 1960s Transistorized Secode Mobile Telephone | eBay
  19. Kev you owe it to yourself to play with the drivers rear seat cushion skins for a couple hours and get those waves out...You can do it, because all the others are good. I know it's a pain in the ass to go a little backwards but once the vinyl and stitching takes that shape youre stuck with it for good. Steve As a side note, by trial and error Ive found the best way to tackle the job is new foam buns in the front and switch the old front buns to replace the rears...in other words only buy two sets of foam when doing all four seats
  20. Well, my first suggestion is if your wife won't bleed brakes then it's time to find a girlfriend LOL Are the shoes adjusted properly so both shoes are snugged up and set up against the drum? You might try turning the starwhel to stop and then back off to a just freely spinning wheel all four corners There;s not many clicks between "right" and "too loose"
  21. give them a rap with a rubber mallet then use the tool
  22. A project is at it's last steps to road ready, ...since the tires were 20 years old got 4 new ones even though by eye the 20 year old ones looked fine on the outside. Dismounted they looked fine on the inside, too. Was so tempted to just put the old ones back on again. New tire sidewalls are so thin now...I can feel my finger through the rubber regardless of brand michelin pirelli, continental all the same. Ya just don't know. I will say this, apparantly there's not only a chip shortage for cars there's a RUBBER SHORTAGE right around the corner. Steve
