1. Excellent response... Much appreciated. Speaking from the sand-cast foundry business, we found "urethane" coreboxes & pattern impressions to be the "cure-all" for cost effective tooling over the past 18-20 years. Urethane remains the best for short run, cost effective casting quantities, however, pattern shelf-life "dimensionally" is an average of 10-12 years. We have now shifted to the "only cure-all": CNC, tool steel, machined patterns for the same reasons you mentioned...urethanes/plastics shrink and crack over time. We still pour urethane tooling, however, only for limited life and use. Though urethane tooling is stored in dry, dimly lit rooms, it still shrinks, becomes brittle, and, cracks with no UV interference. We are very careful pulling out an aged pattern that may cause a dimensionally unstable casting. Thanks, again, bkazmer for great input. 2. Nice, Peter... I have fond memories of a forerunner 240-Z. An old friend, Max Knepper, a neighbor, bought a new 240-Z around 1973-ish. Max owned a restaurant and the car was a toy to him. The day he brought it home, I was a 27 year old drooling young'n. Max threw the keys to me and said to check it out. I was in 7th heaven. Drove it for about 2 hours showing off to friends. Max was not the least bit upset that I had a great time with it. Always recall the quick response and handling. Have fun with it... 3. Hi, Diz... Don't forget the 2-door 1956 Pontiac Safari wagon. My father owned one. Dad will be 90 years old in December and to this day touts the '56 as his all time favorite car. Regards, Peter J...
4. I agree to a point, however... We are on the AACA Forum, of which, is funded by AACA Members. I feel strongly that the AACA Library & Research Center should be the first point of contact for detailed research. The AACA has a full-time staff awaiting historical and "factual" inquiries. The AACA Library's holdings of research material is unsurpassed within our hobby. That is a known. Peter J.

11. Received it today in Reading, PA, Steve... The many color photos really stand out. Peter.
12. Hi, Terry... Fran & John Shore and myself really did not have much time to walk around. We manned our AACA stand pretty much all day, leaving just to get some chow. We spoke with various South Jersey Region folks and they expressed great satisfaction with the amount of vendors present. I arrived around 8:30 and the vendors were all set up and doing business. One gent told us the vendors were selling very well. The traffic was backed up for about 1-2 miles in both directions with people coming to the event. By the way, the South Jersey Region really extended the welcome mat to us. Provided a nice building to sell tickets, promote the Library and AACA functions. Also fed us non-gratis...many thanks to them. Quite an event. I will return for sure. Regards, Peter J.
13. Hi, Mikzjr... The South Jersey Region's huge and great parts flea market is on Sunday, March 26th. Please note that it is now being held at the Salem County Fairgrounds, which is almost within eyesight of the former location, Cowtown Rodeo. While there, please stop by the AACA Library & Research Center booth. Would be great to meet you and well worth your while. Spread the word to friends to stop by... Regards, Peter J.
14. Personally, I enjoy the AACA Judging system as it forces me to do my homework and own work to show the car as it left the factory. Concours events are focused on appearance more than correct vehicle construction from the factory. (Yes, I showed at Concours events in the past. The judges asked that I close the trunk for judging, not for alignment, but, appearance. They did not even look at the engine or under-carriage.) With the AACA Judging system, I have always taken the approach: "If I see something wrong, then, a judge can see something wrong". I received the "highlighted" judging sheet in 1998, the first time I showed at an AACA National Meet (Received a 2nd Junior that year). Took the sheet to the car on a quiet day and looked at every area highlighted. Worked over the Winter fixing many things I saw that needed attention. It was quite easy to see improvement needed on every highlighted area. Really enjoyed this system as it created "the hunt" scenario. Received another 2nd Junior in 1999, however, with fewer "highlighted" areas. Then, after having fun within the process of elimination, received a 1st Junior in 2000 and coasted up the ladder since. "Felt more satisfaction via the AACA System, than, if some judge, or, club offical would do my work for me by pointing out every deduction". Personally, I would not have enjoyed "the hunt" if a judge told me what was wrong, or, how many points were deducted. It is really a simple mission statement of the AACA: "...as it left the factory." Our system is far from perfect, however, it is a highly respected system within the hobby worldwide. Just my 2 cents and my experience with the AACA... 15. West, were you and your friends Triumph mechanics at one time? Had to ask the question. The sequence of photos brings back memories as that is exactly how the Lucas Shop Manual directed a mechanic to replace a rear tail light bulb on a TR6..."Tear it apart starting at the front until you eventually meet up with the tail light". Thanks for the memories... Peter J.
16. Hi, Terry... Cannot help you, bud. Like Dave mentioned I, too, have 185R15 Redlines from Coker on my TR6. They are of fairly recent vintage (2003) and are very slightly softer, but, hard as my head compared to Toyo's. Peter J.
17. Hello, Mike..."Welcome to the AACA Forum". You certainly are on the correct forum. Please take a few moments to scroll around the various forums we offer. As Joe mentioned, there is the "What is It" topic. Also, you will see the "Buy/Sell" and many affiliated Clubs listed. At any time, feel free to post any questions of assistance as you become acclimated to this website. Have you joined the AACA? (There is an application form and instructions noted within the header on the opening page.) This forum is only a portion of what the AACA offers. Our "Antique Automobile Magazine" alone is well worth the reasonable annual dues. Regards and welcome aboard... Peter J.
