  1. Bobs Automobilia does have the air duct and they rebuild the Buick heater valves. I think their # is 805-434-2963 Bill
  2. Wish I had a portable cell-phone jammer Years ago a friend of mine had a car pass him, then pull over to the shoulder and do a U-TURN in front of him. He hit the car broadside flipping it over twice. His ranch truck suffered a broken headlight and smashed trim ring. He is till driving it. Bill
  3. I used to drive one as a ranch truck. You could put it in compound low and walk beside it loading sacks of walnuts, and hop in at the end of a row, turn around and do the next row. They were powered by "H" series Ford flathead six which was a better engine in that application than the flathead V8. That one looks to be shortened and tortured. Most of the ones I have seen had a BIG winch on the front. Bill
  4. Could be a weak clip holding the throwout lever to the pivot. This allows the lever to sit a bit forward and the throwout bearing can just touch the pressure plate. I have had this happen in a 1948 Super. Bill
  5. I was helping a friend with his 46 Buick over the weekend solve a problem with a radiator hose that would not stay on. He has a newly cored radiator and a fresh engine. The car does not over-heat BUT twice when he shut the engine off after a drive the lower hose blew off of the water pump Anyway for some reason I put the brand new repro radiator car on a scale and pushed down. It took 20 POUNDS of pressure to move it! I tried the same test with his old one and it took 7 pounds to move it. When I compared the springs on the two caps the new one had a spring that was 3 times the diameter of the original! The new one was in a copy of an A/C box with the part #RC-13 printed on it and marked GM Restoration parts. The cap and the box are both marked 7# Anyway switching parts solved the problem. Bill
  6. Are you talking about the rear engine mount that actually mounts to the front of the trans case? 41-47 Buicks used a single mount at the rear of the bellhousing/fornt of trans.
  7. Drive the car to break the engine in and then re-evaluate. If you are afraid of it not starting when you stop, then arrange to park on top of hills I'll bet after a couple hundred miles of driving it the starts will be easier. Bill
  8. 1940-42 lower inner control arm shafts are unique. Bobs Automobilia sometimes has them in stock but NOT always as they are hard to find and not being reproduced. The bushings were "rag" bushings, not the metal-to-metal style used in later years. Bill
  9. Greg On my 1923 Packard I made a new breaker plate and fitted ign point out of an early 70's Ford to it as I couldn't find good points either! Bill
  10. bobs automobilia has the fiber gear. the bushings are not available.
  11. They are two-piece like original. The difference is that the outer skin on Bobs is Stainless steel while the original was chrome-plated. They fit onto original wheels. Bill
  12. Try Bobs Automobilia 805-434-2963 They have some. Bill
  13. I used to drive a MGB with lever arm shocks that leaked out almost as fast as I poured it in. I didn't like the soft ride either. STP gives a firm ride and no leaks Bill
  14. A friend of my had a body shop. A customer brought in a 39 ford coupe street rod that had a bubble in the paint on one front fender. He had documentation that it had been build at a "high end" shop in the mid-west. The work was so creative that the owner wound up scrapping the car. Newspaper rockers, lace rear fenders, roof so thin that finger pressure damaged it, 454 engine with lots of chrome and burning a quart of oil every 100 miles. I saw the car when it was driven in and it WAS sharp-looking, but after all the bondo came off the body was a piece of garbage, dented, rusted-out and tissue paper thin. Bill
  15. My favorite crazedlist.org has also been shut down by the narrow-minded profit oriented e-bay trolls.
  16. Dumb question. Is the vacuum advance working correctly. Many straight 8 Buicks have a lot of wear on the dist housing where the breaker plate rotates when pulled on by the advance and they don't advance smoothly if at all. The outer housing wears where the 3 ball bearings sit. Bill
  17. The most common causes of handle droop are 1. wear or 2. a broken spring inside the door latch assy.
  18. So what was the problem with the repop and which repop was it? I know of at least 3 different repop exhaust manifolds in the last 6 years!.. Bill

    fuel gauge

To remove the sending unit you Must drop the gas tank. The gas guage in the dash will read full if the wire to the tank is broken or disconnected OR if the gas tank is NOT grounded (hint hint) If you ground the wire the gauge should read empty. Bill
  20. Bobs Automobilia 805-434-2963 might have one. They will need the length of the flipper. Bill
  21. You won't find one. The Buick parts supply place that I know of has them custom made! Bill
  22. Try Bobs Automobilia 805-434-2963 I am pretty sure they have them Bill
  23. Its shrunk onto the wood fellow, if you have a flat you get to change the tire right on the wheel, its a real joy if you have clinchers Bill
  24. Check for pinched or old and swollen brake hoses Bill
  25. Bobs Automobilia will have that bracket in stock in a week or two.
