  1. I like Steve who is a "shop" teacher I am a mechanic but i am refered to as an auto tech. I may have more training than a collage grad, I have at the least 4 classes a month to go to usually on line courses to work in a dealership and do any type of heavey type work I must maintain a level 4 status. these web base classes are structrued like collage courses I have pre tests and post test that must be passed its is all reported to chrysler, these are not free either 150.00 a test. plus at times i must go to a "live class" at the training center then finish up on line. Plus i have 10 ASE certifactions and also have to have a state inspection licence. So steve keep up being a shop teacher we need all the good mechanics we can get. now if we could get ride of the few kids tha come fron these tech schools that think that when they get out they know everything and want big bucks right out of the gate,but thats another story.

I work in a chrysler dealer ship and the reason i ask this is because i have noticed a trend the last few months, I would say appx 65 % of the people that bring in their cars for work dont want mantiance work done! I had one today said that the ac didnt work and the speedo didnt work and the engine was makeing a ticking noise, well tha condensor had a hole in it the speedo just need reset check the oil it was down appx 2 qt and looked as if it hadent been changed in 10k miles air filter was pluged checked the plugs and the gap was over .090 now this car had 54k on it owner said never had any thing done to it since it was new. all he wanted done was the ac fixed nevermind the oil dont even top it off as that couldn cause the noise and it runs just fine so dont replace the plugs. just fix the ac. Now this isnt the first one i have had in last few months anytime you say maintance they dont wont do any thing about it then in a few months in they come wiht a problem saying i just had in a while back whay wasent it fixed? I thake care of my cars follow the mantince guide oil change 3k pluge when it says fluid changes when is says. I just dont get some people dont take care of them then complain when it quits its the worse car i ever owned, till its time to trade it in then is the best i ever owned. so do you keep up on your mantiance?

I need to replace the rear axle seal on my 65 300 I do know there is an inner and outer seal , does any know if i will destroy the bearing to replace the outter seal , is the bearing pressed on to the axle shaft? I need to replace this fast as the oil is running out bad no noise from the bearing, but due to my wifes serious illness i need to do this as cheap as possiable right at the monent. I need to order the seals so if i need to get the bearing i will also have to order it. It has been along time since i replaces one of these and cant remember. thanks mel
  4. if it has power steering remove the retaing ring start the engine turn to lock and the pressure will blow the seal right out , leave the pitarn on that way all the peices will stay in correct order. Have been doing this for yearswith no problems

I know that this is new to most of you but if you are in need of a new truck bed we have one at the dealership were i work. this is a brand new bed off a dodge 3500 duley. a man bought a new truck and didnt use the bed. There for awhile you couldn buy a 3500 cab and chassie so he bought a reg 3500 took the bed off and put a dump bed on. It will fit 2003-2006 comes complete with lights price new is over 6k we are asking 1500.00. May be able to get delivery within a short distance. Yesterday at work i ws working on a jeep grand cherokee for the keyless entry fobs not working, now to progran the fobs you need to do it thry the passenger door switch,that one is the masterswitch all things work thru this switch, any way it ends up that the swtch is bad it wouldnt program the reciever was bad so i get the price of a new one 309.00. tell the service advisor, he also said that it was hight priced that the guy just put a motor in it....since the power window also didnt work i asked what motor he then said the one under the hood why he asked i said then that is not a motor that is an engine the one in the door is a motor. I was always told that an engine runs on gas a motor is electric so what is it? a motor under your hood or an engine that is the question going around at work. what is you opion? Also id gearoil in pounds or quarts? i was taught by some old mech. that it was measured in lbs.

  12. I know what it is but when was it used? Its a aftermarket defroster still works missing one wire which can be fixed and missing suction cups the ones that are there a re rubber and very hard. I box but it got damaged when my basement flooded.
  13. the last year for the grand wagoneer was 1992, The jeep came to the dealership first, then they sent the dealer a plaque to be stuck on the dash along side the radio, when the tech did the predelivery servicethey were to put it on the dash, if they ever did (i installed everyone of them) . the plaque said 1992 jeep grand wagoneer final editon. I do have one of the plaques that was left over have it stuck on my tool box at work. I really miss working on them always had to fix the rear window tracks they would rust off the windows and then would break the wires for heated back window. And the air injection tubes on the engine would rust out causing exhaust leaks divertervalves on the air pump would go bad them when you were in decell like going down hill the thing would backfire thru the exhaust. Carb problems galore. I reall do mis working o them thou. we use to sell a lot of them to coal companys in our area. you could realy beat them things and they would come back for more.

  15. looked up the part numbers fender 5465039 left front truck or cherokee chrysler says 1951 to 88 i know this is wrong im saying 70s to 88 wheel house this has the flair just like the fender 957183 is the number on it no longer adv from chrysler, fender is still adv list price is 455.00 washer bottles 83505041 fit jeep xj or mj both have pumps (mj is comachee truck) I will take 100.00 for the fender 100.00 for the wheel house washer bottles 10.00 each they are 45.00 and that dosent include the pumps not sure if pumps work haven thad time to try them. will be bringing them with me to hershey
  16. I just got a nos jeep fender left front looks as if it for a 70/80s truck or a cherokee cheif and also a rear wheel house for the same also to washer bottles with pumps . I will check the part numbers today to see what they fit extaly. also have books for sale. i am bringing them to hershey with me. anyone interested let me know 814-591-5230. still work with the parts man who ordered them orignaly may be trade them for some thing that i need for my chrysler. more update later today getting ready for work right now . will be at hershey starting thursday thru sat. hershey highmedow campground

  18. yep he just loves to go to a show he always says anytimei show up at my sons how pop pop car and runs to window to see if i have it. I do have some pics of him at a show but for some reason i cant get them to upload have ben trying since last night
  19. I have a new car show buddy this year he has been going to shows with me all summer long. this will be his first Hershey and camping trip and hope there are more to come. my grandson XJ 1 1/2 years old. he just loves to go withme to shows, cant wait to bring him

  21. We have ar the dealership that i work at a 1977 mavrick just traded in. would make someone a nice starter car. It has 12k orignal miles 4dr 6cylinder auto new radial tires new battery. looks as if it hasnt seen the road in a long time , has an inspection sticker from ohio dated 1979. I did check it out for pa insp real quick (didnt get to check the brake lining yet) It needs the e brake cables to rear wheels either worked to free up or replaced( they may free up) didnt want to push pedal and lock up rear wheels till i get the drums off. does need a real good lube job steering kinda tight. paint very good interior very good and clean, orignal tire am radio no ac power steering disc brakes on front not sure if power or not. color is red with vinal top padded no less. Not sure on the price the car is in dubois Pa at Stoltz of dubois you can call 814 371 8152 ask for mel and i can conect you to one of the salesman. I know the salesmen didnt want the car here this was the owners doings they traded 2 for one . it does run and drive nice. the best picture i have didnt take my camara to work today so i had to use my phone

  23. vari loc is a type of posi diff it operates on the oil pressure in the diff it has a oil pump built into the diff case instead of the clutches that are in the rear end it is just a smoother opreating diff . your jeep must have a full time transfer case and a v8 but have seen some in the 6cylinder jeeps also. splines are diffrent than the norm axles. never had much problems with them Only ever had one apart for any problems and it had been run out of fluid because of a bad seal and that was back in 99 which by the way was the first year for the axle
  24. I also have the same problem, driving along just shut off as running out of fuel ,checked and no fuel in carb thought to myself self fuel pump bad. I let the car sit and got a ride home to get my jeep and some tools by the time i got back it started ok vapor lock. it was about 90+ out and i had just filled the tank, drove the car home replaces the pump anyway because didnt know how old pump was, ( this is a 1965 chrysler 300 with a 383 4bbl carb) . after pump was on car ran fine for about a week then did the same thing ok so i replace points plugs dis cap rotor added a clear fuel filter to see what was going on if happen agin. Went to show in the next town over on july 3 temp in am 70-80 no problems ran 55-60mph ran like a champ, come home after show temp 88-90 no problems, but sunday did same thing shut off waited them started up. Now tonight it did the same thing noticed lots of bubbles in filter ran hose on pump started, dont know how to cure this I even tried an old trick by putting close pins on the fuel lines,that didnt work. all lines are away from heat sourse i have replaced all rubber lines with new, only thing left is to install an small electric pump. Napa has one that has 1.5-4.5 psi will that work (going to leave the mech pump on also) ? i want to use this car and cant have it shutting off as most shows around here are a distance away. thanks for any help. Also a buddy of mine has a 70 dart 340 that is doing the same thing , and comming back from show on the 3rd another friend of mine 54 chevy did the same thing so its just not my car doing it, we dont h ave much choice as to gas station as all are the same in at least a 50 mile raduis a convience store chain we dont have any gas stations here any more
  25. chamged them before just drill out the rivet and then you can either used rivits(big rivit gun need) or just use bolts lock washers nuts of the right length
