  1. WIth the nice week we had I got a few more drives in the F1 this week. Ran it almost empty today and dumped in some ethanol free, stabilized gas and drove it another 5 miles, backed it into it's Winter spot and covered it up for a long Winters sleep. Every things tucked away now, just need to do a little more cleaning in the shop so I can get to my Winter projects and then let it snow.
  2. Took a nice long drive in the F1 along Lake Ontario, may be the last trip of the year, about time to start packing the barn for Winter. Since the wife didn't want to go I jacked in the iPod and cranked some vintage rock, rolled the window down and just in joyed the day. Saw a step down Hudson, a 63 Galaxy and a AMC Pacer being trailered. On such a nice day I expected mor vintage but I think with all the wet cold weather many are already out away the Winter.
  3. The whole T-12 thing certainly seems to have been a well kept secret. After this thread and looking around on the net I went to the local lighting supply company today and asked them about the pending shortage. They didn't know anything about stopping the manufacturing of T-12 bulbs. They said that the fixtures are no longer made but they had not been told of bulbs not being made. He checked and said he had 100 in stock and an order for 750 coming in shortly. He did comment the price had doubled in the last year and were now $1.89 ea instead of less than a dollar. I decided not to stock up and will start changing fixtures as needed. I did buy four 4 footers just so I didn't need to immediately switch a fixture out that failed in an important spot. I also had a 2 foot T-12 fixture that had died in the kitchen to fix and he said they were still getting them in and as far as he knew those were still being made and they were supplying them to contractors for new construction. I decided not to go that route and spent more money for an LED light fixture and it is really a nice upgrade an uses so little power there is no guilt if it gets left on when not needed.
  4. Interesting info. I just changed to an electronic ballast on one of my T-12 fixtures back in the spring and the electric supply place didn't bother telling me I was spending money on an obsolete fixture. I found at least one article that said the broad spectrum lights in T-12 form would continue to be made. They are a lot more expensive but I already use them on a few of my fixtures where I want true color and a little more brightness. Hope the one article is true. Guess I need to make a trip to the store tomorrow and ask some questions. Glad I have procrastinated I have been meaning to put a bunch more lights in the shop for a couple of years and if I had I'm sure they would have been the obsolete style.
  5. Show may not be the best but at least it isn't another one of those Reality Shows or Talent Shows.
  6. I thought I had it timed about right to stop by this year but passed by about 45 minutres early. Was back at my space with my feet up at the proper time and couldn't convince myself to get my feet back under me. I had Moxie about 40 years ago and liked it, tried again about 20 years ago and didn't, was looking forward to a tie breaker.
  7. I do like having the small cars together because I can find them easier but, I have to disagree with my president. I think owners should have a choice, if their car fits in more than one class. New York state recognizes my FOR as a commercial vehicle so why shouldn't AACA. Did have to pay for a heavier license unless I wanted to bring in a weigh slip since their computer locked out commercial vehicles under 2000 lbs.
  8. Yesterday was a nice sunny day so I used my F1 to run some errants before meeting a friend for lunch. Stopped at a lawn mower shop to pick up a tire that was being repaired. The owner saw me pull in and after paying he followed me out. He walked around asking questions and saying how it would look great with his logo on the door. Before I could leave one of his employees pulled in and was doing the same thing. Then a customer pulled in and the whole process repeated for a third time. I was beginning to think I was going to be late for lunch. Got to lunch and was waiting in the parking lot for my friend to show up and a fellow pulled in beside me. Said he use to have a 49 and then pulled out after a quick look. Lunch was good to
  9. The Tad Burness Spotter's Guides are my goto books for trying to identify cars. American Car Spotter's Guide: 1920-1939 American car spotter's guide, 1940-1965 American Car Spotter's Guide 1966-1980 American Truck Spotter's Guide, 1920-1970
  10. All this talk of money making ideas reminded me that back in the 70's several campers apparently were setup as brothels and doing a nice business till officials shut them done.
  11. I think that up hill shot was heading towards my spot. I know I'm in the minority but I kind of miss the grass fields, even when they did turn to mud sometimes.
  12. We had a very good year for sales and those around me seem to have similar good things to say about sales. Of course my bar is fairly low for a vet good year. Paid for spaces, fuel and everything I bought and still came home with a few hundred dollars more in my pocket than I started with. Found a few interesting things I wasn't looking for that was in my price range, passed on some that weren't. Found some real bargins that might be sold another year, even had several people walk up with parts for sale that I bought.
  13. Thanks all. I did some more looking around at Hershey and the distributor cap was identified as not being from a V12 but from a Nash twin ignition 6 from 1929-32.
  14. Dave is right. I read your posting because I never heard of Forall scooter and wanted to know about it.
  15. Looking for things I didn't know I needed or didn't know existed.
  16. Awhile back someone posted, I think on this forum, they bought a small sealed 12 volt battery from Tractor Supply that is used for electric fences. Seems to remember it was under $20. It fit in a plastic coffee can which they then installed a standard cigarette lighter outlet. Now they could plug in USB power adapters or phone chargers etc. They recharged it in the evenings as needed. Though it was a great idea, obvious other shaped boxes could be used.
  17. Thanks for all the help. Looks like no takers on 2, 7, 8, 12, and 15
  18. Thanks so far. Had a guess off the web of Lincoln V12 for the distributor cap, does than sound right?
  19. Small box of stuff I rescued from My Dad's shop. Most are obvious as far as make, but would like an idea of what model/year they fit. I have numbered the parts to make it easier. #2 say ARC and is a little larger than the size of a dime for reference. Not sure if ARC is off a car but it has a small threaded stud on the back. I was told #10 was off a truck and probably 1973-74 ??? I know I should have put a ruller in the picture for size but I forgot.
  20. Sit down and sit still or I will pull over right now till you do.
  21. Over 50 years, the Crosley Super Sports was announced in 1950 as the Super version of the Hotshot. I know it has an extra "s" on the end.
