  1. I have not had any problem with corrosion. Could it be the fuel stabilizer? Fred
  2. The point about changing the windshield to safety glass is very important. You should do it even if you are not restoring the car unless of course you are going to put it in a museum. Why risk your or some one you loves life with a dagger of plate glass for a few bucks. What if at 20 mph on a residential street a kid runs out in front of you. You jam on the brakes and your passenger goes into the windshield. Those glass daggers are not all going to fall outside of the car. On top of that the glass shop has the right tape to fix the glass in the steel bar on top of the glass. I think you can get the rubber moulding from Bob's . The owners manual (Reference Book) tells how to remove the windshield. It is in the back of the book. Speaking of brakes, if you follow the instructions for adjusting the brakes EXACTLY as shown in the owners Reference book or shop manual, the car will stop and quickly. Fred Rawling, Bellflower, ca
  3. To re assemble it after I grind of the swejged part or staked part, I drill a hole for a small roll pin to hold the cup washer on the square shaft. Fred Rawling, Bellflower, Ca.
  4. Tony Blut makes the block for the venture. They are around $100.00. He also has some good used brass cups for the air valve and lots of other parts. tonybuick272829@gmail.com 262 275-6403 I have driven my 1928 Master over 9,000 miles with the vacuum tank and marvel updraft carb. which I re-worked according to the Marvel book you can buy from BobsAutomobilia.com. I found that I got the best results on adjusting the carburetor using a vacuum gauge. I still only got 9 mpg with a new engine. So What!! I am not driving it for economy. I drive it because I like to drive it and I can afford the gas. There was a time before I rebuilt the engine that I was short of cash, broke, and I ran it on pre-mix gas that I got for free from the local motorcycle shop. They drained it from bikes that came in for repair. I strained it and got the water out of it and the 28 ran great on it. It smelled like a motorcycle though. Something to remember: During rush hour they are all going your speed and you can get in the fast lane with the Big Dogs. Fred Rawling, Bellflower, Ca.

  12. The 1924 to 1928 radiator cores were not painted. The cores were assembled and vat soldered. Buick put them on the cars with the lead color as it came out of the solder tank. If you take it to a radiator shop, tell them not to leave it in the cleaning solution tank too long. The chemicals can eat through some weak points and cause leaks. The tanks can be removed and the core rodded out to clean it. Also, a leaking tube can be pinched off with no loss of cooling. If you do not want to get it back from the radiator shop with black paint on it, tell them up front not to paint it.

  21. I found that the wood over the top of the windshield is very difficult to make without a pattern. this is definatly something to save or give away rather than burn
  22. The first and last photos are what the pick up tube looks like with and without the filter screen. The screen is 2 3/4 inches long. It does not have to be exact. Just be sure that the bottom of the tube is about 1/9 inch below the above the bottom of the filter.' I made the screen by wraping the screen around a 3/8 inch dowel, tying it with some copper wire strands from an old lamp cord and soldering it on the seam. The top is a piece of brass tubing. It does not hve to be exact size. The solder will fill the holes. For 1924 4 Cyl. the overall length of the tube with the screen attached (the screen extends 1/8 inch below the length of the tube) measuring from the lower part of the hex is 10 5/8 inches For 1924 6 cyl. and all models through 1927 the length of the tube is 12 1/16 inches The inside diameter of the copper tube is 1/4 inch. If the outside diameter is too big, you can file it down or drill the hole in the plug a little bigger and if too small, the solder should fill it in. Mainly 1/4 inch I.,D. I did not find the first part of this post so If I gave an answer you were not looking for, send me a note at fred.rawling@live.com or call me. 562 644-4670
