1926, TO 1927 AIR FILTER . IT WILL FIT 1928 BUT 1928 DID NOT HAVE THE FITTING FOR THE DUST CUP THIS IS FOR THE SMALL SERIES OR STANDARD SERIES. IT WILL NOT FIT MASTERS THE DUST CUP AND BAIL ARE MISSING ON THIS ONE. THERE IS A SMALL DENT ON THE SIDE CLOSEST TO THE ENGINE. I COULD NOT GET A GOOD PHOTO OF IT. THE MOUNTING ARM IS INCORRECT IN THAT IT SHOULD HAVE A LOOP ON IT. THE OTHER THING THAT I HAVE NOT SEEN IS THE CLAMP ON THE NECK. POSSIBLY THIS WAS ON A GMC TRUCK. GMC TRUCKS HAD BUICK ENGINESD IN THEM. $45.00 PLUS POSTAGE BEST WAY TO REACH ME IS fred.rawling@live.com

1935 Series 50 Front Bumper and Other Parts
Fred Rawling replied to JayG's topic in Buick - Buy/Sell
Hoi Jay, I could use the escushon in the middle of the bumper. If it is not badly beat up and you will sell it seperatly, send me a photo. fred.rawling@live.com. Fred -
I suspect that they may have a leak. Try then with a 6 volt battery charger to see if they work. My experience with bulbs that are black is that they are bad. Fred

question about spark plugs and engine cranking
Fred Rawling replied to jps's topic in Buick - Pre War
It seems that it should cough and try to start. Here Are my suggestions: Check the routing of the plug wires from the distributor cap to each plug. You replaced the distributor cap so double check. When timing it if you pass the timing mark, do not back up the flywheel to set on it. Go around again. That should eliminate any backlash from a worn distributor gear. Re time it 180 degrees from where you are now. Also run a piece of 600 sand paper through the points to break any glaze that may be on them. -
Yesterday I found an oil pan in the shed marked 52 super. Send a note to fred.rawling@live.com for photos. I am short on time now. I will try to post the other years it may fit and photos tomorrow., $20.00 plus postage

I called Shell Oil Co. and talked to the technical Dept. . They told me that hypoid gear oil will eat into your bronze bushings. Look up Penrite Oil. Or, from the auto parts store, get the 90 - 185 gear oil.

600 x 21 for the 121 & 128 inch wheel base series and 550 x 21 for the 118 wheel base series. I would suggest that you buy new tires last after the car is ready to run. That way you will have fresh, not "however many years it takes to restore it" old tires on the road.

1927 Buick standard 6 piston rings

I have always had difficulty putting the 3 piece oil rings ( 2 rails and an expander) into the cylinder. so I bought cast iron oil rings. Something to think about. Fred
