  1. A dual show is 2 AACA meets on back-to-back days. As 1967 RedDeville stated there was a Grand National Meet in Charlotte on Friday, April 5 and a National meet the following day located at the same location. I am not sure how often they occur. Tim
  2. The Oldsmobile was a 1911 and as 63RedBrier stated, it was OUTSTANDING. Tim
  3. Roger, The total points for a battery is 5 points. The AACA Judging Guidelines state this regarding the battery. Thus, you would want a battery that is from the era of the vehicle. It might not be a bad idea to send a message to the AACA VP - Judging Jim Elliott to let him know what issues you have encountered and see if he has any insight. Jim Elliott VP - Judging PO Box 723 Yorktown, VA 23692 Tim
  4. Not sure if this is what you are looking for but, this is an example of all the categories for judging at an AACA National or Grand National. I have included the same form twice (with one rotated) The second one is taken directly from the Judging Guidelines. Tim
  5. TAKerry, I believe you are unable to attend the Advanced Judging School until you reach 25 Judging credits. If you attend the Certified Judges Education (CJE) tou get an additional credit once per year. Thus, if you attend the school, CJE and judge you can get 3 credits for 1 meet. If you attend additional CJE’s per year you do not get additional credits unless it is Milestone Year where you reach (10, 25, 50, 75, etc.), you can earn an additional CJE credit after completion of another CJE seminar during the calendar year of your milestone. Thus, the credits add up rather quickly. Before long, you will be up to 25 credits and can attend the Advanced Education. Tim
  6. Ted is correct in that only AACA National Shows have AACA Awards. The AACA Senior award badge for the vehicle should look like this and would go behind the AACA 1st Junior badge: The AACA Senior trophy would look like this: Tim
  7. The only place I have seen this is in the 2024 Official Judging Guidelines that was posted recently. That states the date as August 22 - 24 in Hampton, VA. Tim
  8. Thanks Dave. I did call again and was able to get a room in the AACA block and saved a couple hundred dollars at the new rate despite that rate being a Hilton Honors discount. Tim
  9. Dave, I plan to come the meets to Judge. Can you let me know once the room block at Embassy Suites in Charlotte is oficially expanded? I booked my room but, the only night that was available at the AACA rate was on Saturday night. Once the block is expanded, I will call back to Embassy Suites to see if I can get a better rate than what I am currently being charged for each night. Thanks, Tim
  10. I am from Rochester, MN. 1983 Hurst/Olds. I have been a member of AACA National for 7 years and just joined the Hiawatha Region last month. Tim
  11. Larry, You are correct that a car needs to have won a Senior Award at a National before it can advance to a Grand National Meet. As 61polara stated, only the First Place Grand National winners receive the blue grill badge. I copied the attachement from the 2023 Judges Guidelines. It is in the Appendix towards the back of the guidelines. This shows the points needed to achieve the awards. Keep in mind that at the Grand National level there is only a 5 point spread not the 10 point spread at Nationals. Thus, if one car scores a perfect score in a class, the other vehicles in that class would need to score within 5 points of that score in order to also win a First Grand National. Hope this helps. Tim
  12. I can definately agree with Stacy that the National Convention is for everyone. Although, I have only attended one, I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and very much felt welcome. It was a very enjoyable time and I look forward to attending another one whenever it works out. All of the events were well organized and the seminars were very well done. Sometimes it was hard to choose which seminar to attend as there were a couple at the same time that sounded like they would have contained a great deal of beneficial information. Thanks, Tim
  13. I am very sorry to hear this news. My condolences to John and the entire family. I just judged at the Grand National meet as part of John's team. Tim
  14. I have an "83 Hurst/Olds with the Lighting Rod shifters and have been asked many times at car shows if my car is a 4 wheel drive (4WD). Tim
  15. Pontiac 70, If I were you, I would try and enter it into the 36L judged class. The judged classed do not require that the vehicle be restored. Looking at the judging form, it appears that a non-authentic exhaust system would only be a 5 point deduction. If the rest of the car is as it would have been delivered from the dealer, that would be a minor deduction. Just my thoughts, Thanks, Tim
  16. Wow Joel, what a story. I am really glad that you didn't hit one of the other cars. I know if it was me, I would have to check the drivers seat to see if it had changed color. Tim
  17. Thanks Matt for posting the pictures of the car. I agree with you that it appears to be a very nice original car. Tim
  18. I suggest that edinmass be consulted. He seems to have a great deal of experience with Whites though, not sure if as much with trucks.. Tim
  19. gwells, Nice looking Model A. Have a great trip and I look forward to following your progress. Tim
  20. Wow, that was quite the video. Not something you would expect with cars around 100 years old. Tim
  21. I just reread an e-mail I received from AACA last week and the deadline for registration to this National is now July 17th: Tim
  22. WOW!!! Very glad to hear this car and trailer has been located. Hard to believe it is nearly intact 9 months later. Tim
  23. BuickTom, If you are planning to bring a vehicle to this National, it looks like the deadline to register is coming up on June 28th. Tim
