  1. Matt love the car but you have to work on your suspenseful presentation if you are going to be in the same league as Ed & Auburnseeker. They dragged out even seeing a big part of the car for at leas a couple pages of guesses!! Lol dave s
  2. Small world. I did the processing for Astronomy Magazine for years until the original owner sold it. It was started by a fellow in grad school that did his thesis on the feasibility of starting a magazine on Astronomy. Half way thru he saw it was so good he quite school and started the magazine. He developed a brain tumor and passed away about six years later and his brother took over the pub.
  3. Just an offhand question, how Did he get the truck up that high without a jack anywhere around?
  4. 38 Studebaker State Commander - Art Deco car of the year in 38.
  5. There are all varieties of eye candy, some stunning and others exceptionally rare like a Great White!
  6. Matt you are being generous saying 10% for brains.
  7. I have the Coker bias ply tires on my 38 Studebaker. I’ve put over 6000 miles on them in the last 3 years with out a single problem. It rides great. I even did 15 laps on the Indianapolis 500 track (I was the only one that never lifted) and they were fine. The car never had radials in it and it’s 82 years old (older than me by 8 years and is probably going to outlast me) so why change now? Have fun
  8. Various size wire bottle brushes do a good job cleaning threads. Put them in a variable speed drill and they remove rust pretty well. Have fun.
  9. The IRS Audit.. If you've ever owned your own business, been an entrepreneur, or wondered what it's like doing so, this is as close to reality as it gets. The IRS suspected a fishing boat owner wasn't paying proper wages to his Deckhand and sent an agent to investigate him. IRS AUDITOR: “I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them". Boat Owner: “Well, there's Clarence, my deckhand, he's been with me for 3 years. I pay him $1,000 a week plus free room and board. Then there's the mentally challenged guy. He works about 18 hours every day and does about 90% of the work around here. He makes about $10 per week, pays his own room and board, and I buy him a bottle of Bacardi rum and a dozen Budweisers every Saturday night so he can cope with life. He also gets to sleep with my wife occasionally". IRS AUDITOR: “That's the guy I want to talk to - the mentally challenged one". Boat Owner: “That would be me. What would you like to know”?
  10. And the OSCAR goes to Mr Ed! That is amazing! Congratulations. How are you going to mount it on your fireplace mantel? ps Best supporting mechanic goes to Phil!
  11. Apollo Creed told Rocky no rematch. Maybe the “Great White” will be the same way for you! Plus you have Phil in your corner. Round 9 ! it’s worth the fight and must be a ball in person because it’s certainly is vicariously !
  12. Ed, the well being of the car and you guys is more important than a video. Get it when you can. We are all anxious to see it, but a lot of that is for us to enjoy all your hard work and success. We will wait on pins and needles and try to hold the wolf back ! You’re a mechanical genius not Cecil B deMill!
  13. You are saying your trusted assistant, Phil, is not going to have the bloodhound costume on?
  14. Growing three inches means it won’t fit in your trailer anymore! Hoping everything goes well on the start up!
  15. We lived in the Chicago suburbs most of my working life (great place to make a living) our 2900 Sq ft house on 5 acres with a 4 stall horse barn had taxes of $13,000 - 20 years ago went we said enough. Now that house's taxes are just short of 20K. We moved to Lexington KT and the taxes on 17 acres 3600 sq ft housr were $1300 ! We moved the decimal place over 1 place. Two years ago those taxes were up to $3600. The upkeep with my bad back/legs was getting to be too much. So we moved to Aiken SC - 2700 sq ft house (more than we wanted or need) on about 3/4 acre with taxes of $1100/yr. It's on a golf course so it seems like a lot more land, so many pine trees we can't really see the neighbors. Weather is usually good (unusually warm this summer but getting back to normal) and the price of houses is very reasonable. Now to find some more car guys around the area would be great. Have fun dave s
  16. The song “6 days on the road” is going to become Ed’s theme song with a slight variation “ I couldn’t pass on a ?????? And a White, I’ve been passing newer stuff in sight six days in the shop and I’m going to get it fixed tonight”
  17. Unusual and obscure describes most old car guys life, doesn’t it?
