  1. I believe google translate was lost in translation from australian to kiwi to english to american... I did spot a veteran on Friday but was too slow on the trigger to get a pic of it. Now, what make or model, I cannot say. All veterans look the same to me - all that brass, copper, leather and shiny stuff. I recall the gentleman and his lady were well dressed and looking spiffy. Definitely wasn't part of Saturday's parade due to the constant steady rain all day, but fingers crossed it will make an appearance at today's picnic, and hopefully it is the elusive "Napier' in Napier.
  2. I spotted a racing Lagonda with two fuel tank inlets at the Bentley display. It looked to be a rare beast in my eyes, but I know nothing all things Bentley/Lagonda. Pics to follow soon.
  3. Only if you count Austins, MGs, Bentleys and Rolls. Actually, a Bentley club is hosting the car show. I will post more pics tonight.
  4. Interestingly the guides did not mention how many people died from the earth quake and the resulting fires. If you are interested in anything vintage and or art deco then Napier must be on your bucket list. Apparently its the biggest art deco festival in the world. I would not doubt it one bit.
  5. More pics from day 2. Missed an opportunity to take a pic of a veteran, no idea what it was. Hopefully it will be at the vehicle parade tomorrow.
  6. Yes, the bus is a new build vehicle but has strikingly amazing art deco features. I love the fact that you can go on the back deck similar to a boat.
  7. Just confirm that each one you do is on the baseline of the cam. This is how I use to do overhead cam engines, don't even need to know the order. Very important that the cam and crank are timed/lined up correctly. Otherwise, everything you do is wrong. And yes, like keiser31 said, don't turn the engine backwards. The slack in the timing chain will affect your setting.
  8. The Kiwi aaca members would be very familiar with this amazing long weekend of all things vintage. ENJOY!
  9. Being obviously aware of the risk of injury and or death, it always amazes me how members on the forum talk about driving the old cars at speeds well above 40mph. Sure your car maybe capable. But should you? We always believe we are in control, its the unknown that you should take into account. Mechanical failure, brakes, steering, suspension, etc. Other careless drivers and the condition of their vehicles. All car accidents are unique, in my unqualified and dodgy opinion, installing seatbelts has its merits, increasing your chances of survival in certain accidents. We always hope that the accident we maybe involved in is minor. My car does not have seatbelts, I rarely drive above 30mph.
  10. Also, two ( L & R) tail lights?
  11. I had thought that the distributor had moved (to the driver side LHD) a bit later than 1929.
  12. Found your problem. "from a 54 chevy"..... If there are no leaks at all, then ; 1. need to bleed the brake system more, like Keiser31 said, start with the longest brake line 1st and work back from there. This is most likely the issue. 2. check your master cylinder push rod length. How far does it move? A picture or two would help.
  13. How is the fuel being fed to the carby? Electric fuel pump? And where did the distributor go?
  14. The dash frame and the instrument gauges look not much different to a 28 Chrysler. Love it. Good luck with getting it on the road.
  15. If you adjust all your brake bands very close to the drums and it still does not give you good pressure at the pedal then its not the bore size causing your issues. Check the seal of the handle in the brake fluid tank on the firewall. And obviously leaks at each wheel cylinders and joins in the brake lines.
  16. I would have thought Molasses would be the cheapest, friendliest, and easiest method to remove rust.
  17. Vacuum tank or electric fuel pump supplying the fuel?
  18. If there are two horns then this would be the best solution IMO as well.
  19. Here is a couple of aussie songs you will need to sing along to at any pub in the outback.
  20. Quick question, what models delco remy And powerspark units are they ?
