  2. Success , after some thought decided to not try flare and changed fitting to compression with sleeve . After all it is vacuum not pressure , and the shut off valve is not a factory thing , but added safety device .
  3. If it is like the Zenith's and is main jet start at 3 to 4 turns out . Set idle at, you have . If it runs , rev and hold half to two thirds rpm . Then clockwise in until rpms start to drop off . Then back counter-cw until max rpm reached . going past you notice drop off and roughness again . Back at max point turn 1/4 turn ccw out to rich it .
  4. Thanks All . Everyone hit some of it this time . First after taking my stronger cheaters out to garage found it is double flare . Re did practice ones with ream and cleaning , add oil per boxes instruction and was much better no splitting . But still not good enough on shape at seal . I believe there is hardening as one side collapsed . Will try actual up under truck if fails , new line time .
  5. Thanks , this is not a double flare . Will try filing tomorrow and advise .
  6. I was trying to put flare on my '31's steel fuel line . It kept splitting . Is it age or am I missing something . Tried twice on cut off piece . Sitting here now thinking would oil on flare tool have help . The split seems to be at a seam , remember this is gasoline line under vacuum not pressure or brake . Thanks Tom
