  1. Cool looking car aka the green machine!. I few things; the stance of the car is off which begs the question is there an issue with the springs? The A/C does not work because the belt is off the compressor, I know this is picky but the stereo is an eyesore, the seller didn't even try to get one that match the rest of the dash motif (missing knob doesn't help) Otherwise I agree the 57 birdman about the lack of pollution control devices which makes working on the engines easier. I actually like this more than the 77 Lincoln and the 79 Oldsmobile listed in this topic.
  2. That seems to be a good deal for a pre-war Packard. I would like to see it to get an idea of how good the workmanship is. There's a lot junk out there and for the price they are asking I have some reservations about it!
  3. I was hoping you'd say EX-1 because the link where it connects to the shock arm is hitting the exhaust pipe and lower bushing will probably make it worse. So I have to take it to an exhaust shop to reroute the exhaust pipe. But your answer makes sense; thanks!
  4. Since my car has various components installed or mounted that are not stock I don't know what's correct The manual is of little help. In this case it the bushing(s) for the rear shock links where they meet the frame. Below 3 pictures and I think it's the first example....
  5. I've never been star struck and therefore would not pay a premium a for a car based on it's previous ownership. I guess it's the fact that I've lived in La-La-Land all of my life. The Hillcrest Cadillac dealer no longer but the building still stands used as a Lexus dealership!
  6. WOW, pretty car. The iconic 50's American car. I think the price is not far from fair!
  7. This is a 1951 Hudson Hornet sedan with 86,000 original miles on it. It is in original condition with no rust present. It has a single barrel carburetor and an automatic transmission. For accessories, it has a front visor, dual spotlights, fog lamps, and a rear window blind. It starts and runs. The only thing that it needs is a front brake job as it does not seem to have much braking force and it pulls to the right on braking. The front seat upholstery is torn or worn in spots and taped over with duct tape in several areas. There is a file available of service/repair records and chain of ownership that has been documented over the years. The car is in Venice, CA. We're asking $14,000 for it as that is what we have into it. Here is a link to Hemmings Motor News of 5/26/2015 "Find Of The Day" featuring this car. Please check it out for more information on the car. https://www.hemmings.com/stories/2015/05/26/hemmings-find-of-the-day-1951-hudson-hornet It was sold one month after that article appeared in Hemmings for $17,500. Attached is the bill of sale for that transaction. The car is in Los Angeles and it is currently titled and registered in California (We have new CA license plates for it which are not yet mounted). https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1045848113378904/?ref=product_details&referral_code=marketplace_general&referral_story_type=general&tracking={"qid"%3A"-2530343557707944970"%2C"mf_story_key"%3A"6602516992516481288"%2C"commerce_rank_obj"%3A"{\"target_id\"%3A6602516992516481288%2C\"target_type\"%3A6%2C\"primary_position\"%3A3%2C\"ranking_signature\"%3A79208564055934571%2C\"commerce_channel\"%3A501%2C\"value\"%3A0.0011780987942917%2C\"upsell_type\"%3A3523%2C\"candidate_retrieval_source_map\"%3A{\"24675107322137210\"%3A805%2C\"7523081957725932\"%3A3001%2C\"7343652055698403\"%3A3534%2C\"6825921507535518\"%3A3535}%2C\"grouping_info\"%3Anull}"%2C"lightning_feed_qid"%3A"-2530350910841042728"%2C"lightning_feed_ranking_signature"%3A"79208564055934571"%2C"ftmd_400706"%3A"111112l"} This car is not mine and I have no stake in the sale
  8. I have always liked the 1970 MBZ line up. The 6.3 is my favorite. But the 280SE with the 4.5L V8 sedan are a much more affordable. Of course there's the 280SL and the 3.5 convertible both models are expensive and sought after. I guess I'll quit dreaming and stick to my Buicks!
  9. It looks like a nice car. However what's with the bears in the back seat. The aluminum foil in the engine compartment has got to go. I like to green painted exterior, chrome looks good and the interior looks original but the driver's seat bottom is torn. I am guessing that the A/C works but I am not so sure that the dash gauges work because there is an aftermarket set of gauges below the A/C unit!.
  10. Okay this one is suspicious. The car sold on BAT for $47,000 a year ago and now it's for sale for $16,000? No pen burn here; I would want to know the whole story behind the big price drop. Mind you the location is very close to the boarder. It just does not add up!
  11. I just stumbled across a video of this car:
  12. So we've heard it before and well you'll hear it again; the photos leave a lot to be desired. No engine pictures, no top down pictures, no complete dashboard pictures and only one picture of the right side. The right rear tire is a blackwall so it doesn't match the other tires. I believe this is a one size fits all type of front seat mount. Meaning it's not adjustable so you can count me out as a buyer! All the whitewall tires and the the top are dirty! It may be a good deal for somebody who is into these cars. A decent model 48 convertible with a spare flathead V8 and 4 powder coated spoke wheels for 33 grand. I'm not really into these cars but it doesn't seem to be too pricey to me.
  13. That's a nice A!! If I were the seller I would hold to that price; it looks like it's worth all that money!
  14. Is it safe to assume this Fairlane 500 is a step up from a Fairlane? If that's the case it's kind of ironic that my 57 Pontiac Chieftain/Catalina (lowest model) will bring about 8 grand more than this Fairlane 500 which I think is the top Fairlane model. This Fairlane and the 48 Olds fastback would make 2 great cars to own at great prices.
  15. WOW! What a buy...The seller is practically giving this car away. The two things I would think are holding it back is it's six cylinder and an Oldsmobile. If it were a Pontiac, Buick or a Cadillac it would be sold already. Some easy projects could make her into very nice car and I would love to do them but it's on the wrong coast for me plus I don't have the room!
  16. I make it a habit to run when the seller indicates he has no title for the car because blah, blah, blah! I just know the hassle and headaches I had many years ago with the DMV the seller each pointed their fingers at each other.
  17. We have had a few 41 in our shop and they all have rear rock guard deflectors. I agree with kingrudy that it is correct. They are very common on 41's but rarely seen on 40's!
  18. This car looks pretty nice but I question the dealer that's selling the car! Though 41's are nice cars and there are more readily available parts for them, I still prefer a 40 over a 41!
  19. I emailed the seller and asking 5 simple questions. His response was to send my email address. I replied by saying please answer my 5 original questions and I also included my email. Well the seller still hasn't replied. I am starting to think this might not be for real and a possible scam. There's still a chance that I could be surprised and receive honest answers to my questions....
  20. I really like this one. I would back off the bigger carburetor and either go with a 450 CFM 4 BBL or return it to a stock carb 2 BBL?. Of course this depends if the cam a stock unit. I wonder if the car is raised.... It seems like the ride height is too high or maybe the tires are a little under sized. The tachometer seems a little superfluous in my opinion so I would remove that too. I may even change out the 3 spd trans for a 4 spd; I think that would be a better modification that the aftermarket carburetor. Otherwise I wouldn't change any else. My guess is the price is a bit aggressive; it should hover around the 18 to 20k mark!
  21. I saw a 36 Pontiac 8 coupe at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale and it sold for $23,100. That car looked very similar to the one posted here. I have always liked 36 coupes from GM however I am partial to Buicks and Pontiacs but I can't get over the wood issue. I saw a video recently posted on some website of the new owner shooting a video of the car on the lot of Barrett Jackson and thinking he's going to flip that car. So I checked VIN' for both cars and found the Barrett car has a stock number in place of the VIN so who knows if they match. Pretty crazy but II do think this is the same car because 2 36 Pontiacs for sale at the same time would be very astonishing. Well the one posted on this thread is currently at $19,000 on eBay so time will tell where price ends up on eBay!
