1958 Chrysler windsor, not mine.
deac replied to Xander Wildeisen's topic in "Not Mine" Automobiles For Sale
Now the seller is describing it as a project. Still a lame post! Going with Fossil's quote: "That's a lot of money". -

IMHO no price assessment can be made with just one picture and almost no description.... -
Though the seller has taken some pretty good pictures but there are others he has omitted. Where are the pictures of the the rust free undercarriage? engine compartment? trunk floor?. From the pictures that are posted it looks like a nice car for a fair price. That is if the omitted pictures don't show anything disgusting. An interesting note; the dash has a chrome piece that goes from right to left. It really dresses up the dashboard especially contrasting with the black - nice addition! As I understand that chrome piece was not a factory option and was available some years after the car was put together in the aftermarket. Unfortunately they are not available today. My 47 Super Deluxe had one and it made a big difference!

This car has issues. The chrome rear bumper is pealing, the right side running board rubber matt is deteriorated and left board has no rubber, the interior is a mess who know the quality of paint. There are more issues lurking that pictures don't show These cars don't bring more than 15k. So on top of his listed price the buyer is going to have to put a lot more money into it. I like these cars but not this one at 9500!

What a fine looking Buick! I do like these cars. The 22k miles cannot be verified! There are 2 issues I have with this car: The seller says it has power steering but why is there no belt in the pulley. The other issue is the two front fenders. Every picture of the those fender the color doesn't match as well as it should. Pictures do lie so this paint issue could be a non-issue! I do wonder if the heads have been updated for no lead gasoline. I had 2 Camaro's I remember adding a lead substitute when I was at the gas station. Out here in southern California I would be lucky if anyone who works at a gas station would know what I am talking about let alone carries it.; "You want a lead what??? What's that for???"

I don't see this car as being what those 2 statements made in the sellers description as being true. i would be willing to bet you could find a 60 Lincoln in much better condition at a price far less than the cost of restoring this one. Hmm desirable? No so sure about that! Maybe I am slightly biased because I don't care for the design of these Lincolns.

I never owned or worked on an early Ford so I am curious; I assume it's a gravity feed fuel system with the gas tank next to the firewall? Assuming I am correct the fuel in the tank is measured by the dipstick in the passenger side area. Am I thinking right? Okay so what see in that passenger area are two plastic containers and one looks suspiciously like it's for coolant. When I look at the motor the water/coolant inlet and the left side of head and block show rust. Also the 4 plugs have rust build up on them. I would think this car has overheating issues. Is this common in the little 4 bangers? Though I am curious about these cars and how the technology was back then, I would not be a buyer because they are not really practical on todays roads!

I have to admit the car doesn't float my boat! However it does have a lot going for it. First the interior is quite remarkable; ever got an estimate from an upholstery shop lately? The biggest question the seller doesn't address is whether the 413ci 4bbl runs; it sounds like it is a powerful train! The other question is does the Torque Flight transmission engage and shift properly? The seller mentions all the accessories options the car has and sound great, but do all of them work? I would not think the A/C works; power windows? The seller also omitted pictures of the undercarriage and the engine compartment. Anyone who may have an interest in this wagon would be wise to have look at it. Me, I am about an hour away so I would be wiling to run out there to have a look... Chris

We're all infected with the old car addiction and if we had more space, more time or more money we would buy more cars. Your tastes are much like mine, however it would interesting to hear what you like about this 'not mine' topic. Not about a specific car but what this thread is about. Oh and once you have this old car addiction you will find it never goes away!

1953 model was the 50th anniversary for Ford and I think it was the last year of the flat head V8! This example looks pretty nice and on the center hub on the steering notes the anniversary. I always liked the 53's for the simplicity and the flat head motor. I think the seller is at the top of the mark on price. If it's as good as it seems to be he might get close to what he's asking!

1957 Chevrolet corvette $65,000
deac replied to George Smolinski's topic in "Not Mine" Automobiles For Sale
I did an inspection on a 57 Vette and though I have seen many early Vettes this one was probably the best of the bunch. That because this one was roadworthy and in mint condition. I look at these cars posted here and think well they're nice cars in the pictures and they're probably very collectible but they're not roadworthy. For some reason cleaning/rebuilding 4 bbl carburetors and fuel injection units is not something most mechanics know how to do nowadays. Below is the car I inspected.... -
1941 Packard 110 Business Coupe $37,900
deac replied to Leif in Calif's topic in "Not Mine" Automobiles For Sale
Normally I like Packard's but this one doesn't do it for me. The 2 tone paint and the wheels with out beauty doesn't work for me! If it does have 12k original miles on the clock the seller would have show undeniable proof of that otherwise I am not convinced! The paint just looks too perfect. On the flip side of the coin it could be one heck of a time capsule and should be listed for sale in a more distinguished platform, like an auction house! -

Another - 1960 Edsel 2 Door $17,500 Missouri
deac replied to B Jake Moran's topic in "Not Mine" Automobiles For Sale
I like it! It's not going to beat many other cars off the line, but for a simple cruiser that would fit the bill. I don't the seller will get to close to his asking price the Edsel brand is too tarnished! -
1957 Buick 4 Dr. Century Hard Top - $11,500 (Temecula)
deac replied to deac's topic in "Not Mine" Automobiles For Sale
I decided not to go see the car based on the fact that it's a non-running project. But I do think there's a lot here for the money. I have been reading the comments about the monotone exterior red paint. Though it I do like the two tone paints of the 50's in my opinion it would not be the a deal killer to buy it and then in time add the accent color below the belt line and possibly the roof, You wouldn't be removing many stainless steel or chrome accents on the lower bodywork and there's no metal work to be done. So it's what I call a simple scuff and shoot; scuff up the paint and shoot it. Moreover metal work is what costs the big money. I think it 's a great starting point for some one wants a project. -
Are looking for the metal bracket that holds the spare tire ? It's a bracket secured to the trunk floor by one bolt?
