  1. There's an ad in the Buick Club of America Magazine, the Buick Bugle, from a retiring carburetor rebuilder who is selling his inventory. I bought a rebuilt carburetor for my 1962 Skylark from him. He was easy to deal with and I found the price reasonable. PM me if you don't have access to the Buick Bugle and I'll forward you his contact information.
  2. The 1965 Buick sales brochure depicts the Skylarks with the "Knock-off" wheel covers you mentioned, not with the rally wheels. The brochure mentions some optional equipment, but not the rally wheels, going on to suggest that you check with your Buick dealer for more information. I'm unsure if the rally wheels were available for Skylarks in 1965, but I've seen plenty of 1965 Skylarks with those wheels on them. The rally wheels look good on those cars. I like the "Knock-off" wheel covers. Contact the AACA library regarding your question. They should have more detailed information regarding 1965 Buick optional equipment.
  3. Thanks for the input. One other question - is the plastic support behind the panel the same for both the analog and digital dashes?
  4. Can a digital instrument panel from a 1985 Riviera be installed in a 1982 Riviera? The 1982 car has an analog instrument panel. I'm asking for a friend who works in a restoration shop. He's working on the 1982 Riviera, the 1985 car is being used as a parts car. He doesn't want to open up the dash on the 1982 if the 1985 instrument panel won't interchange.
  5. I had the same issue three years ago. I listed my 1965 Impala on ebay and received a winning bid. The bidder never contacted me and didn't reply to my communications. I reported the non-paying bidder to ebay and they refunded their fees. I didn't relist the car with ebay. I sold it a short time after, for more money than the winning bid, from my ad on Hemmings web site. I also had the car listed on Facebook marketplace which only generated a lot of stupid facebook messages.

  7. Just finished reading "Wheels for the World" by Douglas Brinkley. A long, but very interesting history of Ford Motor. I've never owned a Ford product, and don't plan to, but the history of the company and the people involved is very interesting. I enjoy reading about automotive history.
  8. I had the same issue with a Kanter bought master cylinder for my 1962 Skylark convertible. Two friends were installing new wheel cylinders (also bought from Kanter which work fine) and the new master cylinder. The master cylinder just wouldn't pump the fluid out, no matter what they tried. These friends have many years of experience repairing and restoring antique cars. After many tries and much frustration, I called Kanter and described the problem. They were very receptive and offered a refund so I sent the defective part back. I sent the original master cylinder to Apple Hyrdaulics and had them re-sleeve it. I bought a rebuild kit and my friends used the re-sleeved master cylinder along with the rebuild kit and now the brakes work fine.
  9. All of the above are great choices. Here's two that I enjoyed, Duel and Used Cars. Late model cars in both movies (when they were filmed), but Duel is a great suspense movie, and Used Cars was a good comedy.

I don't know where prices are going in the future, but based on recent perusals of various web sites with cars for sale ads, people are asking what I consider crazy money for beat up project cars. I've seen some ads where people are asking "convertible" money for four-door sedans. I saw an ad with a $10,000 asking price for a 1964 Impala four-door sedan that needs body work and a paint job. Maybe I'm out of touch, but that seems awful high for that body style in that condition. I have no idea if these cars are selling, or if the sellers are getting anywhere near their asking price.

  12. Congratulations on your purchase. Good luck with the car. First thing, join the Buick Club of America. There's a good classified ad section in their monthly magazine. You can place parts wanted ads in the classifieds. 13-inch wheels were standard on your car. 15-inch wheels were optional for Specials, I'm unsure they were available for all the body styles. It may be difficult to find a set of 4-lug 15-inch wheels after all these years. Kanter, cars.com, and Original Parts Group may have some parts you're seeking. There's a facebook page for 1961-1963 Special and Skylark owners. Team Buick is a forum site for Buick issues. I have a 1962 Skylark convertible with the V8. It's a fun car, and one you don't see that often, even at Buick meets.

  14. Old Cars cut their frequency to twice monthly, issue dates are the 1st and the 15th. They've said subscribers will still get the number of issues they paid for. I've occasionally received issues of Old Cars out of order. This month my copy of Hemmings Classic Car is late.
  15. You are correct. 1962 Skylarks had the four-barrel carb and 190 horsepower. There was no Special or Skylark convertible in 1961. The cars were restyled for 1963.

  20. The last time I went, around 2003, it was mostly tools and hot rod parts. Like John348, I only live about 60-70 miles away and haven't gone to Englishtown since that last visit.
  21. Not unusual, but I've found old road maps in at least two antique cars that I bought. I sold the cars, but still have the maps.
  22. Is that a factory installed or aftermarket tree?
