  1. The new master cylinder had a bad thread in the flare for the brake line. The brake line wouldn't seat correctly. When it was bench tested it leaked. They installed a rebuild kit in the old master cylinder and finally got some pressure.
  2. Some friends are helping me repair the brakes on my Skylark. They replaced all the wheel cylinders and brake hoses, and adjusted the brakes. The lines are in good condition. I bought a rebuilt master cylinder from a major parts house. They installed the master cylinder and added new fluid, and bled the system. When testing the system, the brake pedal consistently went to the floor. Pumping it didn't help. There was a rebuild kit available in the garage so they rebuilt the old master cylinder. Once that was installed, we got the same result. We suspect the master cylinders are defective, but want to be sure we didn't miss anything. Has anyone had an experience like this or is there something peculiar to these cars that we're missing. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
  3. I looked at your listing. Your posted pictures clearly showed which vehicles the brochure covered. If the buyer purchased the item based on the word "Jeep" without reviewing the pictures and description, then it's his problem not yours. You're not guilty of false advertising. In my experience there are a lot of careless buyers on ebay. Also, he only paid $3.25 for the item plus shipping. For under $10.00 he received a lesson in looking carefully before you buy something.
  4. I always like to have a couple of spare covers for my cars. Right now I only have the four on the car. One is dented and I'd like to replace it. I'm looking for at least three. My Skylark isn't a show car, so driver quality wheel covers are fine. Please send a PM with what you have. Thanks.
  5. In street scenes from Laurel and Hardy, Our Gang and the Three Stooges from the '30s, most cars have black-wall tires.
  6. Does anyone know of a company that rents tents for flea market spaces during the fall meet? My friends and I share a few consecutive Red Field spaces and would like to rent a tent rather than carrying and setting up our own (which doesn't provide much weather protection).
  7. I'm posting this for a friend from our local car club. 1965 Chevy Impala Sport Coupe. 283, Powerglide, A/C, P/S, P/B and vinyl top. 25 year old paint still shines. 8. "JetSmooth61" because I was born in 1961 and have owned a number of 1961-65 Chevrolets with the "Jet Smooth" ride. The handle is outdated since I sold the Chevrolets and now own a 1962 Buick Skylark. I still like the handle and will keep it.
  9. Ken said he sold the car to a collector who said he's going to keep it stock.
  10. I only found out via text that my friend sold the car. I'll ask him for details the next time I see him and provide an update.
  11. 1964 and 1965 Finger Tip Facts are sold. All other items are still available. I've dug through my shelves and found more items from these years that I'd like to sell. Please PM for a list if you're interested.

  14. Thanks for the leads and the suggestions. I bought a 1962 Skylark convertible yesterday.
  15. I'm looking to buy a 1961-62 or 1964-65 Buick Skylark or Special coupe. I'm looking for a V8 with automatic transmission and power steering. I'd like to find a running/driving car that needs little or no work. I don't have a color preference, but I'm not crazy about red cars. I'm not looking for a show car, but would like something that could be shown in DPC. I prefer original drive-train and interiors. I'm in Long Island, so I'd like something in the Northeast, but will be open to other areas for the right car. Please send a PM if you have one for sale. Thanks.
  16. I finally got to see the car in question today. The tips came in handy. I passed on the car because it needed more mechanical and cosmetic work than I want to take on. The search continues...
  17. SMS Auto Fabric doesn't have kits, but they may have the material needed for the seats. They'll send a sample for you upon request. They sent me a sample of the vinyl and nylon to recover the seats in my 1961 Bel Air Sport Sedan. I sold the car before I ever recovered the seats.
  18. I'm hoping to take a trip to see a 1961 Skylark for sale soon. What are some of the main things to look for when inspecting one of these cars? Are there any quirks I should know of. I owned 1971 and 1978 Skylarks over the years, but am not too familiar with the 1961 model. Any tips will be greatly appreciated.
