  1. $7000 - or trade for 1960's Buick Special or Skylark Coupe Nassau County, Long Island. Nice driver quality Impala with 82,000 miles. New York inspection good until 9/30/18. Six-cylinder, Powerglide, power steering and correct working 1965 Chevrolet AM/FM radio. The car was ordered with the optional all vinyl black interior. Assembled at Tarrytown during the third week of July, 1965. Sold new at Baldwin Chevrolet, Baldwin, Long Island in September 1965. I have the original bill of sale, the Fisher Body punch card and two recall notices from the dealer dated 1966. I also have the original owner's manual and owner protection plan booklet with the protecto-plate. The paperwork I have shows that the original owner lived in Long Island and moved to New Hampshire with the car in 1974. It changed hands twice in New Hampshire before I bought it there in 2014 and returned it to Long Island. A previous owner had a valve and ring job done in 2008, Since I bought the car I've had the following done: Rebuilt Carburetor Brakes redone - including new lines and master cylinder New Ciadella seat covers and seat foam installed New Ciadella carpet installed New fuel tank and sender installed New radio speaker installed Rear axle fluid and gasket changed Transmission pan gasket and filter replaced Grease fittings replaced Upper control arm bushings replaced Water pump replaced Belts and Hoses replaced Stabilizer links and strut rod bushings replaced Trunk weather strip replaced Heater switch replaced New tires (they're now four years old with only a few hundred miles on them) New exhaust system, including manifold The car was repainted in single stage urethane - new emblems and door handles were installed. The paint job was a color change - from Ermine White to Crocus Yellow. Why am I selling it after all that? For me half the fun of the hobby is buying and selling the cars. Another car wants to follow me home, but I have to make room for it. The car drives very nicely. It accelerates and shifts well. I've been pleased with the acceleration for a six-cylinder full-size car. The car could still use: the padded dash has started lifting at the corners. The headliner needs a repair on the passenger side sale panel. The center trunk floor has some rust. The rear doors don't always want to open. Please send a PM for more information or to make an appointment to see the car.
  2. I'm posting this for a friend from our local car club. Six-cylinder, three-speed synchromesh, new interior. $24,000 or possible trade. The car is located in Suffolk County, Long Island. Please call Ken directly at 631-880-8489 for more information.
  3. In the early '80s I saw a 1961 Impala Sport Coupe for sale on a used car lot in San Leandro, California. The dealer was asking $900 for it. I test drove the car; it ran a little rough and stalled a couple of times. The body and interior were in good condition. I offered the guy $750 but he wouldn't come down from $900. I walked away that day. I drove by the lot a few weeks later and the car was still there. I offered the $750 again but the dealer wouldn't budge. He said he was moving his lot to Arizona and was taking the Impala with him. I still think about that car once in a while. In 1995 I saw a 1965 Chevy II Super Sport for sale on a small used car lot in Long Island City. It was in rough shape but it caught my eye. It wasn't drivable but I visited the lot twice and thoroughly inspected it. The gentleman in the lot's trailer said the owner was unavailable and he wasn't authorized to sell the car. He gave the impression the owner was in legal trouble and the car might be tied up in that trouble. I forgot about the car and bought a 1963 Chevy II Super Sport in 1996. I saw the 1965 SS for sale on ebay a few years later, in the same condition it was in when I inspected it. I didn't bid because I had no room for it, but I'm curious about what happened to it.

  5. Please respond to this ad by telephone only. The number is 631-880-8489. Ask for Ken when you call. I'm listing this for my friend Ken, it's his car. Ken and the car are located in Suffolk County, Long Island. 1957 Chevrolet 210 2-door sedan. India Ivory over Canyon Coral. Radio delete car. Six cylinder with three on the tree. Solid body. $21,000
  6. Just to follow up. My friend said that the owner fell in love with the car after the shop completed their repairs. The owner took the car for a drive and was so happy with the way it ran and drove that he decided to keep it.
  7. Based on Mikewest's experience, I recommend no one else should call about the car. I checked with my friend who asked me to share the car for sale; he said he was unaware that the Bel Air's owner now doesn't want to sell it. He added that he wasn't surprised by the change of heart.
  8. A friend of mine from the Long Island VCCA asked me to send information about a car for sale that AACA members might be interested in. Please see the information below and the attached photo. The car is located on Long Island. I haven't seen the car, I'm just passing along the photo and information. My friend works in an upholstery/restoration shop. This is a customer’s car that he inherited. 1957 Bel Air 4 door sedan White over black. Nice clean interior probably re-done several years ago. 283 V-8 with rebuilt Powerglide. The 283 runs well but unsure if it has been gone through. It appears to be original. All new brakes. 4 new Coker wide whites. Could use paint and some TLC. $12,000 Call 917-685 7162 and ask for Arthur
  9. My father and I had to leave Hershey early yesterday because he had extreme intestinal discomfort after eating at the Chocolate Avenue Grille on Wednesday evening. He felt somewhat bad on Thursday but was able to hang in and spend the day at our flea market spaces. He got worse overnight and we decided to drive home once his intestines calmed down a little. I ate there too and didn't get sick. I'm not trying to knock the restaurant, it seemed like a nice place, but I'm curious if anyone else got sick after eating there. My father is on the mend now.
  10. John S, I think it went to a good home. The guy brought his wife and kids with him to look at the car and got their approval before we made the deal. He owns a body shop and has other old cars. I can't be certain about him modifying it.
  11. The car is still for sale. I've added a few pictures. Please contact me at jetsmooth61@optimum.net if interested.
  12. 63,00 miles. Bought from grandson of original owner in 2011. Car has been sitting due to health issues. Equipped with 2-barrel 283, powerglide and power steering Needs transmission resealed, front seat recovered, wiper motor rebuilt and radio serviced. Body good, original paint (Arbor Green) still has some luster. Minor surface rust in trunk. Rest of interior in good condition. Wide white 7.50x14 tires from Universal installed in 2012 with few miles on them. Please PM or email for more details and photos. Email address jetsmooth61@optimum.net Car is in Long Island.

  14. It looks like they went to a lot of trouble to put the wagon wheels on the Volkswagen. Thanks for posting the videos, John.
  15. Any AACA member can join the region. Please email your name and membership number to spaceagechevy@gmail.com and we'll add you to the roster.
  16. In reply to Matt's comment above about wide whites; if you watch movies made when the cars were new (1930's especially) you'll see in the street scenes that most of the cars had black-wall tires. There are a number of Three Stooges shorts that were filmed in local streets and there are plenty of cars with black tires. There's one mid-thirties short where they play firemen and their chief takes delivery of a brand new coupe (which the Stooges wreck) that has black-wall tires. I can't remember the coupe's make, I'm guessing it was a Ford.
  17. The "Antique Automobile" magazine alone is worth the $35.
  18. Please send your AACA membership number to spaceagechevy@gmail.com and we'll add you to the roster.
  19. We have 50 members in the region. It's non-geographic and the members are spread all over the U.S. and Canada. The only activity we had so far was an informal region meeting at Hershey last year. I think we had six or seven members present. We publish an on-line newsletter six times a year. Please see the region web site: http://njaaca.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=25&Itemid=44for more information.
  20. I remember seeing a Playboy for sale in the red field at Hershey on set-up day four or five years ago. It sold that day and I then saw it for sale in another field on Thursday or Friday.
  21. Unfortunately poor spelling is an epidemic. What I find interesting is all the "rare" cars that people advertise on CraigsList and other sites. I was unaware that Mustangs, GTOs, Camaros, Chevelles and '60s Impalas are rare. My impression is that many of the advertisers equate old with rare. By the way, the screen name Carl LaFong is great. Does anyone get the "It's a Gift" reference? I wonder who still remembers W.C. Fields?
  22. I located and bought the parts, so they're no longer needed. Thanks to those who sent pm's regarding the parts.
  23. I need a passenger side front fender and a 14x5J rim for a 1965 Impala Sport Sedan. Please send a pm or email to jetsmooth61@optimum.net.
  24. I took driver's ed in 1978. Our school had two then-new cars, a V6 four-door Skylark and a V8 four-door LeMans. We all wanted to drive the LeMans because of the V8. Both cars had a brake pedal on the passenger side but no steering wheel. We also had simulators in the classroom. The dashboards, steering wheels and instrument panels were from mid-1970's Darts. There was a screen above the dashboard that projected driving scenes that students were supposed to "drive" through and react to. If I remember correctly, the driver's ed teacher's nickname was "Crash".
