  1. I have a new one if steele doesn't have it. Sorry...Sold
  2. Dave....Absolutely no rattling or vibration from the heat shield. The three studs are quite rigid and the shield is of sufficiet thickness and won't stress crack. All my eight cylinder cars have the shields and never any noise or issues. The shield does not rub against the block but looks close. Bob
  3. 1946-50 chrysler straight eight fuel pumps are positioned pretty low so the shield couldn't easily reach up the the manifolds for another attachment point. I think the 1941-42 engines use the same shield. I take pics of all the cars I work on just to help ya all! Bob

    Engine size?

The 230 is what is used in the B-3-D trucks. The distributor should have NO vacuum advance diaphram on it if original. Good used Gas tanks are hard to find for the 1948-53 1/2-2-1/2 ton trucks...mounts half under the cab and half behind the cab-frame mounted. No new ones are available. Bob
  5. C2 and CW OD cars have it on the trans... CW shown...
  6. That looks to be the correct Carter carb.. late 1947-8 # E7A1
  7. You think Richard would have been right on this lead! At least let us know if he was interested in this lead. Not many crickets left these days.... all scrapped years ago.
  8. Dual throat Strombergs were used up through middle of 1947 then switched over to the Carter B&B single barrel carb through 1950 for the 323 eights. 140 HP for the 2BBL and 135 for the single barrel carb engine. Bob
  9. I noticed the "H" was missing as I have a crysler clock too.
  10. That hood ornament # 1373207 is for the cheaper short wheel base 1951-52 Windsor six and Saratoga V-8 cars. The upper line NewYoker uses the exact same ornament but a bit longer #1373208 . The top line Imperials have a completely different looking hood ornament.
  11. Your problem is caused most likely because of rotten old motor mounts and the engine moving slightly forward or backwards. This will cause you not being able to sometimes shift into forward gears ok but not into reverse or the other way around. One of the "Prestomatic" M-6 transmission shifter rods has the ability to be adjusted for length. On 1950 Chryslers there is an early and late design... you need to adjust this rod length. A quick pic of a early 1950 chrysler NewYorker trans and where to adjust that rod... Transmission 10W Fluid level only affects automatic upshifts if the level is low. It won't shift properly into high range at road speed. Bob
  12. Is the front end sqawking all the time as in dry suspension joints? Those era of chryslers were notorious for front end noises. A complicated front suspension design. You could try the dealer but they might be a more modern slightly different looking replacement part. Go ask them. Oh those late 70's "Lean Burn" Mopars !!
  13. 265 chrysler engines are as hard to find as the straight eight. And highly sought after too.
  14. My Chrysler Miss Serephina has a pretty engine.... Even yours can look the same. Just some money and time. These eights are so smooth and have lots of torque. A slant six would not do too well in a car this heavy though.
  15. The Chrysler 323 eights were also called the "Royal" engine and were found in marine applications. A very smooth and quiet engine. I have several 1946-50 Chryslers with the straight eight in them. When idling smoothly I have balanced a nickel on edge on top of the head.
  16. Go to the P15/D24 site and post this. You will get the necessary parts and info from someone there.

    GAS

$3.09 in east Seattle area. Gas is always high as is everthing else here.
  18. 1949-50 DeSoto, Dodge and Chrysler 4 door and 2dr cpe cars use the same chrome division bar and all will interchange. 1951-52 are a different series of division bar and 1953-54 are a different series also-- none interchange.
  19. Those poor old ugly toads! They lead a tough life and seldom get any appreciation or completion.
  20. I had fun helping out... I'm sure Jack did too! Thats a nice original 50 chrysler. I love em and have three of them. Bob
  21. Jeez Jack... I wish you could of posted those pictures before I posted mine. It took ten trial pictures up under the dash to get only three decent ones! Maybe you could supply him a factory hose if he needs one. Bob
  22. Try "JC Auto Restoration" in Washington state.
  23. The final pics... Hope you can get your hand up there to put on the hose.... it's very tight up there! Bob
