  1. The owner of those cars (larry) lives 3 miles from me! Those cars are at the spring puyallup swap meet and car show.
  2. here is a picture of that duct on one of my parted out parts cars... a 1950 NewYorker 4 door....
  3. I'll have to get the car down to take a picture tomorrow for you. No plastic is used on the heater system anywhere on a 49-50 chrysler. There's a metal round pipe connection up high right above the glove box that the hose in my picture goes to.. for the defrost air. Bob
  4. Sorry to hear of your stolen rare car parts. Seattle is really turning into an aweful city as it explodes with growth. I grew up here and for nearly 65 years have watched the change mainly in the last 5 years. It's such a everyday story here anymore. Sad for us all.

  7. Thats a real deal for a rare car that original and looking pretty rust free...also looking never messed with.
  8. Thats way older than a early 40's Ply/Dodge PU. Gear box shape is different too. I'd say 20's also.
  9. Bhigdog and Rusty are correct. Use the old ones or ARP's. Never the chinese replacement grade 5 or 8 bolts made these days for something important!
  10. The lower right pictured dash (Red) is a 1954 chrysler.
  11. What color are the dash pads and are they good?
  12. Another up and coming source for reproduction 1946-8 Chrysler/DeSoto Dodge swan neck mirrors . Ad is in the current issue ofFebruary 2015 "WoodieTimes".
  13. You don't need the mirrors on a convertible IMO! I never have. I just think they are so unique. Yes they can get broken by hitting them. Usually the mirror heads get broken off. I have popped two off my cars but I have several extra's to replace the damaged ones. I have found them at swap meets and Ebay.
  14. That retainer clip sometimes can become quite rusty uder the stainless moulding. The hardest part is not breaking the paint when trying to carefully work the bottom edge of the moulding up off the retainer clip.
  15. That trim piece snaps over the moulding retainer clip plate as mentioned above. Carefully work it up and off. The optional swan neck mirrors that are not available also mount there minus the clip retainer.
  16. I took a 3.54 out of a 42 S10 DeSoto convert several years back to rplace the housing gasket and pinion seal. It's too bad your DeSoto car has the very common 3.73 ratio rear end. The 11 bolt six cylinder 3.54 ratio's rear ends are highly sought after for the 1941-52 Plymouths. The 1949-50 eight cylinder Chrysler NewYorker/Saratoga's s also use a 3.54 ratio rear end but it's a bigger and heavier duty 10 bolt housing/gear set.
  17. ^^^^^^The info shown above by jcmiller is 100% correct. I think most all 1946-48 Chrysler Windsors use the 3.54 ratio as I have seen in person over all the years I've been restoring rebuilding them. Always the 3.54 ratio is what I've taken out of them on a restoration job.
