  1. Did that car come out of Rochester NH? A friend of mine had one that color and they are so rare, I can not help wonder if it is the same one. His would have been restored about 15 plus years ago. It originally had some rosy on the rockers and down by the body to frame sheet metal. I know he spent a lot more money on the restoration , than what the value was at that time, but it was a labor of love. I would love to know Jack
  2. Ship; You are a year older than just about anybody, but me!!
  3. Mine sticks once in a while, I use a thin plastic baking tool to slide carefully between he glove box door and frame.
  4. Why this tis photo make me think of my grand dad taking his teeth out at nigh as he went to bed. I love it.!!!!
  5. This thread is wandering a bit off course. BCA members should all vote for candidates, that they know will have the best interest of the bCA at heart. It is interesting that we always get back to judging , while saying no one wants to do away with judging. Some existing BOD members are mentioned as being "Pro judging". This thread is not about existing BOD members, it is about BOD candidates . Three members say they have no intention of doing away with judging, just changing it. If we have three candidates , who all mention judging in their bio and make reference to "changing it" enquiring minds would like to know, Change it how? Some would say , there is too much emphasis placed on judging. I would say in what way? (if you are going to go back to parking, I think everyone's eyes will just glaze over) I am often referred to as Pro Judging. *I do not think that is a bad thing. The BCA has used the AACA system to create their own 400 point system and it is one of the fairest possible ways to judge a car. I have often been refereed to on the Internet and the forum as "Judging only". I am not even sure what that means. I tour more than I have my cars judged, and I use my BCA "Senior Gold" car on tours. It has never seen a trailer. I am pro judging. I did support three candidates in a letter. Are those three the only choice for everyone? NO!. Vote for the candidate( s) that you feel have the best Interest of the BCA in mind !!
  6. The level of rancor and the level of misinformation that is being generated on this subject will create a situation in short order, that will have you "moderating" this thread to the point where it will be a full time project. Peter , I am sure from the past threads that you know , but consider what you are getting yourself into.
  7. John: If for some reason you receive a shredded Bugle / cover, just notify Cornerstone and they will send you a ballot. The BOD did vote to shrink the April issue to minimize this possibility.
  8. I think Pete Phillips may have some 32 stuff also. 903 436 2851
  9. try Jon Henry. 508-245-9093. or jhenry344@hotmail.com. He had a lot of 32 stuff
  10. It is all the same company. LeBaron Bonney started with all Ford products and then they bought out Hampton Coach, which at the time was a Chevy supplier. They did started to replicate some Buick stuff, while still Hampton catch and then after the merger, they went big into Buick stuff. I have also bought the fabric for a 41 Cadillac that I am restoring there.
  11. A real shame for the hobby. They were / are located in the Biddle and Smart Carriage factory in Amesbury MA. I always found them to be very helpful. They were not cheap, but they had what you needed, and that has a price tag sometimes. They were really helpful to local Clubs and willing to let groups go through their facility. When the Minute Man Chapter , BCA held the 2011 Danvers Meet , they stored all our goodie bag stuff as it came in and then stuffed our goodie bags for us. I for one will miss them.
  12. The deserted cars that I have photographed in New England have a totally different "patina" than those I have photographed in New Mexico or Arizona or even California. I love the effects of the dryer climates, paint will be burned off, many times in layers and the chrome will still be perfect.
  13. We don't have many poisonous snakes here in New England either, but lots of hornets, come summer. That ambulance is in fact a Buick circa 1946 thru 48. It would be a monumental restoration project though.
  14. But , I did not have to get wet to photograph them, only have to worry about hornets and snakes.
  15. hopefully, one does not need this ambulance in a hurry
  16. As a photographer, sometimes a visit to the junkyard has a purpose even when I am not looking for parts
  17. white walls were an option in the forties. There is no right or wrong. You can use either one. That Roadmaster is a very desirable model.
  18. We will miss your wisdom and tolerance Buddy. See you along the way
  19. The tours and events at this Year's national Meet in Midwest City OK will provide many BCAers an opportunity for a National Meet with a route 66 flavor. The BCA has never had a National meet in Oklahoma City before. This locale had never been on my radar before, but after working with Pete Phillips and his crew and having first hand info into the tours that are part of that meet < i am psyched . The host hotel is full, but there is plenty of room in the near by hotels. (all providing BCA members a discounted rate). The Mayor and Chamber of Commerce City are working with the BCA Committee to put on one heck of an event. It takes an extraordinary amount of work for a Chapter to put on a meet such as this and Pete and his crew have gone over the top with planning to give you a great time. Do yourself a favor and register now. (Operators are standing by)
  20. I have discussed your suggestion with the National Meet Committee members and all think it is a great idea. They will be handed out starting this year in Midwest City , when you pick up your registration packet. The Committee thanks you for your suggestion.
  21. Another possibility could be bad synchro's I have that problem with my MG, and they are notorious for that issue. I know it is heresy to compare a fine Buick tranny to an MG's cashbox, but one never knows.!!
  22. As current National Meet Chairman, we often operate in the dark when organizing National Meets. WE know what we as individual planning members would like to see and hope attendees feel the same way. I think you have made an outstanding suggestion here.I will bring this idea up to the Committee. I also would go a step further and add an optional place for name , email and / or address for those would like a response.
  23. Lovely and rare car. Look at other 1942 automobiles and see how far ahead of the pack Buick was.
