Guest Rob McDonald
What a great scene, in a prosperous home that looks remarkably like my grandparents' about the same time - late 1920s? Notice how Father erected the tree right under the light fixture. I bet they're tied together, in case the family cat* (or the boy) decides to climb. Wonderful toys, all of which you can be sure were made in the US. Maybe a few from England or Germany.(* Not pictured. He's meowing outside the door to be let in.) Only Buicks
Here is a picture of a pedal car I picked up at an auction last summer, it's got great patina. Anyone have an idea of the age, it was advertised as 1910

avgwarhawk
Ah, toys made back in the day where there was little concern for the child's safety. I miss my old Cox gas prop car with no guard on the prop. I have scars on my fingers as fond reminders! LOL Cool pedal car! Love it.

I had wanted one of these for my office for years and consider myself lucky to have found one this old in such good condition.

Look closely under the radiator cap. Mark, just noticed this one from back in '07. I am sure she has outgrown this particular car but sure it is most likely stored safely in the garage. ncandres
I'm about 15 years late in joining this thread but I think I can provide a little more information about one particular Buick pedal car. 1925 American National. Attached are the cover and page from the 1925 catalog. Also, in that same year, American National had a writing contest whereby students could win one of 7 different American National pedal cars. The Buick was one of the 7 cars. I have the good fortune of owning an original paint example that has survived for 95 years.
JohnD1956
That is awesome! Would like to hear the story of how you got this lik gem.
ncandres
The contest brochure that I mention in my post offered 7 unique cars from American National. I have been on the hunt for great examples of each car for almost 2 decades. One day I found this car on auction zip. It pointed me to a local auction in PA I believe. I was on the phone bidding. I was determined to buy the car and I had the good fortune to get it. There is an even nicer condition one that I hope to acquire this year. If I am successful i will come back and post photos. MrEarl
Her love for driving Buicks started early. No I didn’t restore this old Murray Sadface pedal car that I pulled out of a briar patch while surveying back in the 70’s. Instead I lucked up on it at this years Hershey and spent all I made off the parts I sold there to buy this one. I added portholes to its hood thus turning it into a 1950 Buick Estate Wagon Mag wheel lug nut washers, just the right shape… and delivered it to Etta, our one and only grand child (so far)last weekend. JohnD1956
Absolutely Awesome. I thought you had restored it and I was thinking it was really cool that you used that Buick Green engine paint. lol,,,The Portholes are a great addition. MrEarl
Thanks @JohnD1956 that old one is probably my oldest project car lol. I had always planned to restore it someday. I’ve always liked pedal cars now I had a good excuse to buy one. 😁 it was “Buick estate wagon” this, “Buick estate wagon” that, all day long, if she’ said it once she said it a thousand times!
JohnD1956
Well, if you are gonna get er done you'd better start. While your at it, you'd better pave the driveway so Etta has a place to pedal it when she comes to your house. 😉
