Come on Indiana, Everybody on this forum is building a garage, enlarging a garage, dreaming about a garage, or lusting(?) after one. Hopefully, we can get something going on a catagory. Just this week, someone said their wife loved (?) it when they stayed in the garage. I look at it this way, if you ever have to divorce, you at least have a nice comfortable "familiar" place to live. FYI, don't ask! Wayne

That will be great! Now we might be able to have a garage show!!!! Maybe give others ideas for their garage. I viewed other members garages for quite a while to find out what mistakes they made when building theirs. Also, got pointers on the good ideas that they had. A win-win situation!

Hi Bob, I tried to attach your picture off the Gallery but it didn't work. How about doing it yourself.

PS Here we go. Bob just sent the picture to me to attach. BTW, Bob's having an open house/garage Sunday, so if anyone wants to take my invitational space and eat my portion of the "goodies", feel free. I'm sorry Bob, I have to go Xmas shopping. You don't know how sorry I am.

Question Bob, the wall framing for the windows. Are they 2X4's or 2X6's? And where is Steve Moskowitz with his questions? Wayne

PS, Sorry, I didn't mean framing, I mean the boards that are parallel to the ground below and above the windows. OK, so I'm no carpenter.

Great idea!!! I get to see Bob's garage tomorrow, since it's so close-and one of the neatest things our region does is the annual "garage tour." Guess who's going to be on the list next season??? It is a lot of fun to see whats going on with garages in our clubs and it can really be a fun event. If nothing else, it's a good reason to clean things up a bit when you have company coming. Now that you have room for more stuff, lets go get some!

The man who has more engine parts, spark plugs, etc., and he wants to buy more?? You know Terry, if you put some of that stuff together into "assemblys", you'd be surprised at how much more garage space you'd have. Wayne

Hey Bob and evertone else, please keep your garage info on this thread, so we can generate enough interest for a new thread. And, today I went shopping with the wife. Wonderful time? Anyway, I went in a bookstore and saw the perfect book--Ultimate Garages. Inside was the garages of Bruce Meyers, Jay Leno, and other well to do people. I'll admit the cars were nice, but I've seen local garages just as nice as theirs. The book was $29.95, a little too rich for my blood, but I'd accept gifts! Wayne

Attached is a picture of my shop/barn. It is 48X30 foot with the top floor 24X30 with rafter storage above that.

The right bay is my work shop with an 8 floor inside overhead door to move big projects in and out. That is the only fully heated part but with 100K BTU furnace I can take the chill of the rest in a pinch. I usually just use a small kerosene heater for spot heating.

Wayne,

The siding is rough sawn Hemlock. I put it over flake board sheathing with tar paper in between the flake board and siding so I didn't need the batting boards. I wanted the old barn look and in this part of the country most old barns don't have the batting.

Speaking of Garage Envy... a friend of mine has an 11 car garage. To get around zoning issues limiting a house to a 6 car garage he put bay windows in the extra 5 bays, and finished them off like rooms, except the interior walls are moveable. Since we now own 10 vehicles and an enclosed trailer, an 11 car garage might be too small already... sigh. And to think I was thinking 6 car garage originally...

Where's a picture of your garage, Dave? I keep seeing these small pictures of you with something in the background, but no good picture of the garage. Now, I know a man that lives in a nice climate like "Floriduh" certainly doesn't work outdoors. Stick yours on here, then you'll see mine! Wayne

Sharing with a friend who has business installing emergency vehicle accessories, video, light bars, computer stations, gps, sirens, speakers etc.

Small place, 10,000 sq ft with a/c & heated office, frig, microwave, tables, couches, internet access pc,indoor plumbing including shower and locker room. I get a spot about 30 x 60 to bang and toil. At least that's where I'm supposed to stay but I spread out a bit sometimes.

My two car garage at home actually contains two cars most of the time.

It's tough being me. cool.gif

Bob's garage opening was great fun. All the local folks were there including our Region Prez and VP. Hopefully Bob will post some pics of his new acquisition -a super 40 Ford Tudor tourmobile! It sure looked good inside that new home. Everyone loved the space and upstairs storage. I liked the 28' depth on the garage as that gives him plenty of room to pull the vehicle in, get all around it and still have room for a hefty workbench against the wall. The best part about the event was that it was a nice sunny day and the food was great. Bob's wife Josie makes outstanding Lumpia, and if you've ever seen Bob at Hershey, he has a burger flipper permanently attached to one hand! Sometimes I think our region motto should be "any excuse for food!"

The gentleman ( I use the term loosely ) in the plaid shirt is Bob Green, the other scoundrel is ( I think) our own Terry Bond. The mower is there because my other car junk is in it's parking space. Just not enough time to get to everything. Well, one of these days! Terry has been hounding me to get a picture of my T posted, so, after it gets cleaned up, I'll put one on here. It has been hibernating for a few years. The T is the one pictured on my post headers.

Hi Bob and everyone else. Here's the reason I need a large garage(attachment above). 2 cars inside, one in the trailer, and the poor beater '35 battles the elements outside. And they say you can hear a Ford rust on a quiet night! Wayne

That's right guys, always take a picture of your garage walls before you start moving the good stuff in. And here's the real reason I need a "big" garage. That white roof peaking out the left side is my '56 sedan delivery, all ready for the 2004 Sentimental Tour in Manassas, Va. next year. Well, almost ready. It's needs a new battery and exhaust system. The '65 Corvette just needs road time. I would usually have a cover over the Vette, but the cover is dirtier than the car. Still haven't found out how to clean the Calif. cover of all it's dust. I guess that's why you're supposed to dust the car before you cover it up. Wayne
