I`m selling my 1951 Buick Special. I've had it for 13 years and have been to many local shows. It has a 263 straight eight motor and it a manual transmission..3 on the column . Tne rug and the headliner have been replaced. The outside looks good from 10 ft. the paint could use a good buffing. It is currently registered but hasnt been inspected in a few years. I`m not looking for trades but will consider reasonable offers.

What’s the story on Buick turn signals?

Started in 1941(?)

Standard equipment (?) but maybe not on the lowest price models?

This 51 looks like a zero option car. (Has radio now)

Was that turn signal box added because it was not originally equipped? Or perhaps the factory switch was broken?

Actually started in 1940 with the Buick torpedo body style. My coupe has factory turn signals front and rear. All models were equipped with front and rear canceling turn signals.

You have to give GM credit for being far ahead of Ford, Chrysler, AMC and others for their early entry into overhead engines. The flatheads were good engines but were not the way of the future.

Looking to sell my 1951 Buick before the snow flies. I`m asking $5,800 or best reasonable offer. I`ve had the car for 13 yrs. She runs good and everything works off the original 6vt system.

Referring to the turn signal issue.  Turn signals actually started appearing on the 39 models.  I had a 39 special coupe and it had them!

The seller has a homemade wooden center console (which I hate) that has an aftermarket stereo in it. On top of that there are speakers in the kick panels, ugh!  The steering wheel which may or may not be original to a 51 Buick and it's missing the horn ring.  Additionally the carpet is not even close to the original. I don't know about the paint. You might be able to cut and buff it but the paint looks to far gone in certain areas for that.

All that aside, if the car has good bones and it looks as though it does, there's a whole lot of car there for 5800 bucks!

I'd like to check this car out, but it's in Buffalo, like five hours away. I wouldn't care about the little nitpicky things mentioned above. Does it run? Does it look good? Is it reliable? That's all that matters.

This car has been for sale now for almost two months. Seller states he would like to have the car sold before snow season.  In Buffalo, the first snow could be early November. This provides a potential buyer some leverage.

Might not be missing the horn ring.  The deluxe steering wheel was optional on Buick specials in the 1950s  turn signals should've been standard and I'm sure the pot metal switch in the column is probably broken, leading to the strap on signals.

This is very tempting. I wish it wasn't so far away, and I would hope I could drive it home. I checked the mileage. It's about 6+ hours.

I can see it now. "Oh Honey, please drive me up to Buffalo so I can pick up the old car I just bought."

Her response: "You can live in the shed out back from now on."  LOL.  😉

Some pictures show scruffy paint, some pictures show shiny paint. Incorrect interior, says 100K miles, different license plates, has been for sale for 2 months. If it currently looks as good as it does in the shiny pictures at that asking price it would have been sold a long time ago. Apparently even the local flippers don't want it. Pass, I certainly wouldn't be driving 6 hours to see it.
