Not a bad looking car. ‘36 is an oddball year for Cadillac and LaSalle, especially, as it used a LaSalle-ized Oldsmobile straight-eight engine. $20K would be all the money for this car, if it needed absolutely nothing, anywhere. $15K-16K is probably more realistic. $39.5K isn’t happening in this millennia.

I was interested but the car has valve clatter and it sat for a while.  Also paint issues.  39k isnt even on planet earth.  20-23k maybe.

No, that's not the correct price, but what a pretty sedan this one is. I've always loved this body's lines -- especially the gentle arches at the top of the doors and the great wheel opening arches. Beautiful color, as well. I know that this is the kind of thing that only a Minnesotan would notice, but it looks like this car never had any heater, at all. Even by '36, that was uncommon.

Pretty sure I have seen this car elsewhere at a more realistic price.  Looks like "widow's helper" is doing some fishing...

 

All that said nice car, and I think despite powerplant, a Full Classic as all LaSalle's are now?

Very nice looking car and the color fits this car very well. I do not know what would make this car worth 40K, but the market will reveal that. GLWTS

As far as valve clatter goes, that would be the least of my worries as they are probably in need of adjustment. The price is my worry.

LaSalles, like a lot of prewar American cars, don't do well on BAT. The green one that was bid to $11.5K is a nice car, probably worth upper teens.

The '34-36 cars are stuck with the inline 8, but they have great styling. The '36 convertible coupe is my favorite of any LaS.

This one, needing tune up, touch up and who knows what else, sounds more like a $11.5K car than the one that was on BAT.
