MORE … about this 1960 DeSoto …

  • LOW-MILEAGE: Driven just 20K miles, this has to be among the finest low-mileage 1960 DeSoto’s in existence.
  • ORGINAL TRI-TONE INTERIOR: To find any classic car with a factory original interior as well preserved as this is RARE. Even rarer when it’s black and white paired with raspberry red, a rare and stunning color by automotive standards.
  • JET BLACK is a striking finish on any car … and makes this DeSoto seem almost presidential!
  • QUICK AND TIGHT RIDE:  At every speed this is a great driving car. The 361 engine has plenty of extra pep. The Powerflite transmission is surprisingly responsive. That, combined with the extraordinary agility of the torsion bar suspension makes for a thrilling driving experience superior to any 1960 GM or Ford product.
  • MORE than a classic car … MORE than mid-century modern masterpiece, this survivor class time capsule 1960 DeSoto is a WORLD CLASS NATIONAL TREASURE!

About 1960 DeSotos …

  • FORWARD LOOK: The 1960 DeSoto is in a distinctive and desirable class of classic cars manufactured by Chrysler Corporation between 1956 and 1960 promoted as “CARS OF THE FORWARD LOOK.”
  • SPACE AGE STYLE: Inside and out, from every angle, the out-of-this-world design of the 1960 DeSoto is a supreme example the most extraordinary era of American automotive styling.
  • BEST TAILIGHTS EVER: Both in scale and style, 1960 DeSoto taillights win the prize for most extreme taillights of the space age era … and extra points for that trio of boomerang highlights.
  • PUSHBUTTON CONTOLS: The transmission and climate controls are easily engaged with the ultra mid-century modern convince of pushbuttons.

1960 was the FINAL full year of DeSoto production. In 1961 Chrysler Corp discontinued the marque.

In a word - worth it. To a Desoto enthusiast.   For me, it’s easily a $25,000 car but I can’t go nearly 40 large no matter how rare.   Thanks for finding and posting.

The rarity of any 1960 DeSoto, or Edsel, is not lost on me. But how many folks in the collector car world when presented with a $39K decision choose a 4 door hardtop of any make over a more sublime choice such as a muscle car?

Or given the level of detail and curiosity one might get from another 1960 car choice for the same money.  Or less.

i think this quietly moves to a discerning Mopar collector but not likely a general market collector.

That's a very nice car, but being a four-door sedan, it might get half the asking price or a little more.  A four-door hardtop would definitely get more than that.  A two-door hardtop would probably get the asking price from a serious collector.  It's a nice color combination.

A nice car for sure but it's still a black 4-door sedan. A Fireflite was the lower priced DeSoto model in 1960. I read on another site where 1960 DeSotos were marketed to compete with Olds & Pontiac. I doubt that a similar low mileage black Dynamic 88 or Catalina sedan would fetch anywhere near $39K.....This seller's overhyped marketing tactics (check out his recent 60 DeSoto you tube video) are a big turnoff for me, describing his sedan as MORE than a classic car and a WORLD CLASS NATIONAL TREASURE is just a bit toooooo much. BTW Same seller is also marketing a 1957 Imperial 4-door on Ebay for $49K.

Impressive car. Guaranteed you would be the only one in your city to have one of these let alone you neighborhood, or block. I like the black as it contrasts very well with the chrome. At 39G's the seller is looking for that one DeSoto buyer who can't live without this car. In order to reach that sort of buyer maybe a Hemmings listing would be an additional outlet to showcase the car. I hope the seller is patient!

This is Charles Phoenix.  He is an entertainer.  A real expert on the 50s modernism period and American automobiles.
This is going to sound strange, but his shows involve showing home slides taken during the 40s to 70s and analyzing and commenting on them.

Flamboyant, yes, but it’s a good clean funny show.
He has also put out books based on his immense slide collection.  Incredible shots from days gone by.

Yes, at first glance I thought this might be one of Charles' cars. He's had some great old DeSotos. If you get a chance, check out his over the top 1950's car reviews on youtube. Not in depth, technically, but he captures the spirit. They're a lot of fun.

Hadn't heard of him before, so I checked out his website. Fun guy. Very comprehensive assortment of Americana themed subjects on his website, and yes, he is entertaining to watch in his YouTube videos. Personally, I'd need to absorb his content in small doses, but glad to know about him. It must take a lot of energy to produce that much content.
