Very nice car, but the paint doesn't have much luster. Possibly the finish could be brought out by a wash and wax. If I was in the market I would check out this car in person and ask if I could apply a little Mothers car wax to one of the fenders.

@Steve_Mack_CTCurious as to why.  I was passed by a Twin-H Hudson Hornet headed to Forest Grove, back when they held a show there.  The Hudson sounded fun.

I think the step downs are cool and interesting cars.  Guy near us when I was a kid had a couple of the earlier sedans (Mcbride Auto ads, if youve been around a while) which likely influenced me.

Stepdowns are really good cars and the 308 is unbeatable, but I see them as bellybutton Hudsons.

You know, everybody has one.

These are sharp 1940s cars, (tall and narrow) but were suddenly outdated in 1948. . . .

I am very satisfied with my 1942 Commodore 8 sedan, BUT I do wish that it was the long wheelbase version like this one.  (called Commodore Custom for 1942)

Edit - added pictures of my 42 😊

Jim, I really like the colors on you '42. I've never been a fan of the more common blue/gray:

Thank you. Hickory Tan upper Nomad Tan lower.    Yeah, a nice 1940s look.

The other car is Republic Gray upper and Brigade Blue lower.   The colors are metallic so the gray is actually "silver". No, not the best.

Interestingly when the interior is either blue or green you get a green or blue dashboard. The brown interior gets you a wood grain dash.

The serial number should start "47______ "  if this is a 125" wheelbase Model 47.

As with other makes of cars, sellers tend to advertise by the "most desirable" model nomenclature.

Many Super Sixes and Pacemakers get advertised as Commodores and Hornets.   And today's hobbyists often won't know the difference anyhow nor do their due dilligence.

So very true! It makes me a little crazy every time I see a "Buick Roadmaster Special". It seems that every Buick every made is some type of Roadmaster.
