Yeah, definitely had to upgrade it, we had the plates for a while just never had a chance to put them onto the 1938. The bracket on the car holes weren’t lined up for old plates so we had to make another new hole to make it work, that was the first thing we did before the show season this year.

Very nice !! Yes we do, it’s crazy the difference from driving the 29 to the 38 and even driving the 41. It’s amazing to see the difference a few years had made in engineering

After a successful show year

1929 Buick won Best of show at the Long Island Buick show

1st place in its category at AACA old Westbury gardens

1938 Buick won 1st place at the local Buick show

Although it didn’t place at Westbury gardens since the judges said it wasn’t fair to have 2 cars place in the same class.

Next year really wanting to take the 29 to call national at Hershey..

Since the Buick nationals are right around the corner . Just trying to get the 29 ready for some competition. I want to replace some

of the rods for the distributor and heat riser and carburetor, does anyone recreate them .

Also need the tube for the heat riser

Anyone have any experience with the pipes for the heat riser to the exhaust valve . I’m in the process of doing it but it just throws it all out of line

anyone have experience in making them or have any

Tom:

It seems each series and year had a different configuration of the heat by-pass.

My 1925-25 has quite a bend in the tube. When I bought the car they had a copper pipe in it that leaked badly.

A NOS one Hugh found for his car.

I was able to salvage one from a spare engine.

My 1925 Master had the bi-pass cut and a red rubber hose for a connection. It was VULCANIZED in place from the heat. I had a local welding shop make up the bends in the pipe. Not very nicely which I had to smooth out.

My frustration in our region of Central PA is that muffler shops that do tube bending have dissapeared. Even the internal riser liner tubes seem to be just a bit off of standard exhaust pipe sizes. To get the correct fit a pipe expander to be used with the hydraulic pipe bending unit. My local shop that had bent my exhaust down pipe sold their unit to a local GUY who may do something with it SOMEDAY.

Yeah I’m brining it to my local fabricator who builds custom turbo kits and roll cages for him to make me something that fits and looks

nicely .

I was getting agitated with it not working no matter what I did to it . So this Tuesday fingers crossed

Soo next weekend my goal is to drop the oil pan in the 38 century , and clean it then possibly rebuild the oil pump .

Is it fairly easy to remove the pan ? I know on my 32 and 29 it’s fairly easy just gotta take your time .

Thank you that’s very good information on rebuilding the oil pump , going to give it a try . Just ordered extra jack stands and going to try and see if I have enough room to get underneath the car to do this .
