SOURCE NEEDED FOR THESE MACHINE SCREWS

Does anyone know where I can get new screws like those used to hold door handles in place in GM products of the 1930s?  I know Cadillac and Chevrolet used them and I suspect others did also.

They are 1/4 - 28 x 5/8".  They have domed heads that are 1/2" across the flats and are about 1/16" at the edge.  Restoration Specialties had them in their catalog a few years ago but no longer stock them.

Thank you in advance for any help.

If you are replacing that, it is repairable. Clean it up with a chelating agent or electrolysis and zinc plate it yourself. I have done a number of mine that way. There is plenty of information on zinc plating on the www, as well as electrolytic rust removal and some on chelating agents (e.g. molasses, citric acid, Evapo-Rust).

I would say that bolt is not available other than a person that sells parts for the car you are working on.  If that was 34-36 Auburn, I could help you out.

If I were you I would cut the head down on a regular bolt then find a piece of tubing the size of the shoulder and the od of the bolt.  You can solder or JB weld it on . Then take it to your local chrome plater.

Looks like 31 Cadillac door hardware to me. I have never seen them anywhere, we made them out of stainless, and buffed them up.
