bypass
Hi, can anyone tell me if the inside of the wheels is also painted with the color of the car? The car is beige. The outside of the rims are painted in beige. To be original, the inside is also painted in beige? or may be black. It´s a dodge club coupe and the wheels are like in the pic: Thanks
normanpitkin
If you get the original build sheet it will tell you the colours for the rim AND the middle of the wheel .My Chrysler was black centre with red rims
Guest
I think he's asking about the inside of the wheel (the side next to the brake drum).
keiser31
I sort of doubt that the wheels were painted different colors on the opposite sides.
Guest
I doubt it also but by believing in the General I have no idea what WPC might have done. My 53 Buick, I was the second owner in 1960 had the same colour paint on both sides of the five wheels. Curti
Why would the manufacturer ever go to the bother to paint the rims multiple colors ?

I wondered the same thing, then put myself in the factory's position for a moment. Maybe they buy pallets of wheels from their supplier and they all come in with a thin coat of black on them. For the base line cars, they stay black. To dress up the high line cars, they paint the outside body color (why bother with the inside).

Restorer32
I have never seen an original wheel that was a different color on the inside.
40phil41
FWIW, Both my '40 and '41 Dodges have body coloured wheels (front, back and inside). The 41 is bottom of the line. The 40 is top of the line. Phil

dalef62
Crosley wheels were painted black from the wheel manufacture and then Crosley painted the fronts red on early cars and off white on later cars. No masking so there is overspray on the rears of the wheels.
Rusty_OToole
Did a quick web search for 48 Dodge brochures and all the factory ads show either body color wheels or those white trim rings they had back then.

Rusty_OToole
I think Chrysler brought them out when whitewall tires were unavailable right after the war. They had them for a few years then they disappeared when they introduced full chrome wheel covers.
