There are some deals to be found for the 895s. Still a few nice ones out there since they dont have 50+ years of use on them. Not so much for the 853s or 802s...much tougher to find a "deal"; whats out there for cheap are pretty worn/rusty.

@RivNut (and perhaps others ROA members) have weighed in. Bid up to $7,500 with 5 days left.

Must be some other dude using the same handle.  I do not follow BAT, and I for sure didn't post anything yesterday - spent most of the day in the garage.

Hah! That's what I get for assuming … I'll modify my original post.

1968 buick riviera

condition: good
cylinders: 8 cylinders
drive: rwd
fuel: gas
odometer: 38000
paint color: red
title status: clean
transmission: automatic

Up for sale a 1968 buick riviera. The car is a 2 owner unmolested original car. Interior is in great original condition. Paint is also original and in good shape for never being painted. Has factory air (needs charing) everything else in the car works. Just rebuilt carburetor (that's why air cleaner is off in pics, will be back on). Cars runs and drives. Come take a look, won't be disappointed.

Judging by the painted door strike, I take issue with the 'original paint' claim, but I do agree that it looks like a mostly original, unmolested example.  Not highly optioned, but if that's really 38K on the first trip around, it would make someone a nice driver that could be spiffed-up and enjoyed immediately.

I concur on the paint. I'm thinking that is an unusual color combination for a 1968.

Sold for $13,200, which Hagerty sees as just about all the money.

Good afternoon,

I have a 425 Nailhead LX code that was removed from a 1965 Riviera GS to support an LS swap.  It was running perfectly when removed and is complete with everything except the starter.  The asking price is $4,500 obo for everything and the items are located in San Antonio Texas.  I can be reached at 210.549.6484 or robertson.bryan.c@gmail.com if you want to discuss.  BTW, I am NOT the idiot that removed the engined....just the guy who has it now.20210720_181154.jpg.873c4d32ac0c8bbd26bdb345d0821f71.jpg20210720_181201.jpg.fc89416b12e3f868c654be1608b67758.jpg

Does it have the LX distributor?  If not, with a Quadrajet, it’s basically an MW engine, 1966 Riviera 425. If you’re thinking special cam, you need to find the article written by Dennis Manner that he wrote as an answer to a Q&A in a Riview a number of years ago.  Look at the specs and compare to the 1963 base cam.

Ed,

So for starters, what he has is a 65 LX block with a 66 intake with the Q-jet?  Correct?  Are the valve covers off a 401?

Art

Steel nailhead valve covers could be off anything from 59 - 66.  There are a few subtle differences but it’s hard to tell from the pictures what these may have come from. These have the locating tabs but I’m not familiar enough with them to be able to positively identify them. I do know that they’re switched right for left. 😁
