Guest Bob Call
Kaiser, Frazer, Henry J, Aero Willys, and Jeep were products of Kaiser Frazer Corporation which was the successor to Graham-Paige Company. The names Manhatten and Vagabond were used by both Kaiser and Frazer. There were slight styling differences between the Kaiser and Frazer like the tail lights and interior materials. The name Vagabond was also used by Henry J. The 1951 Frazer Manhatten convertible was the last U.S. 4 door convertible until the 61 Lincoln was introduced. The Kaiser Darrin was the first US fiberglass bodied sports car hitting the market a month ahead of the Chevrolet Corvette. In 1952 and 1953 an upscale Henry J was sold by Sear Roebuck in southern states as the Allstate and featured Sears Allstate brand tires, tubes, batteries and sparkplugs. Allstates had opening trunk lids which Henry J's did not, and were offered with either 4 or 6 cylinder Willys engines. Less than 2,500 Allstates were built.Kaiser Frazer was formed in 1945 by Henry J. Kaiser (Kaiser steel & aluminum) and Joseph Frazer who had been president of Graham-Paige. Frazer left the company in 1951 and the last Frazer car was produced in 1952 after 10,000 K-F units had been produced.

I think it was a running change during the 1951 model year. I have photos of them with and without trunklids.
