Daves1940Buick56S
There is a great line in the 1951 noir film On Dangerous Ground where police detective Robert Ryan tells a suspect as he is beating him up, "Why do you make me do it?" I was thinking of that as I was working on the oil pan from my 248 today:Cleaned out the old gunk on the pan inside and pounded down the bolt humps (should have stopped here!)Not satisfied with that, got out acetone and really cleaned the insideThen cleaned the outside of the pan with acetoneNot satisfied with that, got out the scraper and took off most of the remaining garmStill not satisfied, got out the drill and brass wire wheel and went after the pan outside and flangeStill not satisfied, went to 100 grit paper and sanded it downThen 220 gritThen 600 gritThen 1000 gritThen 1500 gritThen washed it, got out the polish and polished and buffed it outWhy do you make me do it?Cheers, Dave

trp3141592
Hi,It's called "Project Creep," and it's contagious to other genres. A screw that fell out of a hinge in a cabinet door became a $25,000 kitchen.--Tom

Notice, now you can see the window at the back of the garage. Since the 37 is off the jack stands where it was for 25years!
