plymouthcranbrook
Anyone know any more about the Space Ship? You would think that it would have been a major promotion.
Buchans Bread
and why are so many people wearing 'bags' over their heads?
JD in KC
I will confess to being old enough to remember (circa 1950)... I think it's the spaceship from "Space Patrol" a very popular (and in retrospect, perfectly awful TV program). The 'bags' on their heads were a promotional cardboard 'space helmet'.It was a much simpler time. Buchans Bread
That's awesome! All this technology and 'changing times' makes me feel like my kids have been cheated. Find me a time machine! Hi yo Silver, and away!
Dave Mellor NJ
There's quite a lot of info out there on Space Patrol. I had never heard of it. Thanks, JD for enlightening us.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Patrol_(1950_TV_series)

Dandy Dave
What size of Detriot would that yellow GMC have or could they have other diesel motors.Detroit started building motors in 1938. I have some parts books and instruction manuals around here that go back that far. The truck in the photo is a 1948. I would not be surprised if it has an inline 6-71 rated at 283 HP. Some of the earliest Detroit Diesels were used in Allis Chalmers Crawler Tractors. Dandy Dave!

superior1980
Not exactly a truck, but this one-year-only (and a short year at that!) 1942 Packard ambulance bodied by the Henney Motor Company of Freeport, Illinois was considered very truck-like at the time.
