Luv2Wrench
That is one detailed auction description. 211 detailed pictures. Will be very interesting to see what this goes for.
trimacar
Interesting project, but not having the original engine sure limits the top end, in my opinion. Would still be a beautiful car if done correctly, and there's been good money spent getting it to that condition.

Marty Roth
Yes, like Trimacar noted, wrong engine, tons of money spent, tons of money more to be spent , innumerable hours yet to go - a real labor of love - will never be quite correct, but what a find! Guest prs519
Couldn't ya just cry in behalf of the person who put such laborious effort into detail, then for whatever reason, had to give up on it?
trimacar
Agreed, it's a shame to get that far and never get a ride in it, and one wonders the circumstance that led to putting the car up for sale....maybe there's an original engine out there somewhere that would make this one right, and if so, this car is worth quite a bit to the person who owns the right engine........ Luv2Wrench
$60,000 with over 7 days left to go. prs519: Agreed. I can only imagine the disappointment.
edinmass
My guess is at 60 k it's still ten cents on the dollar if the car were a true and pure all 1910 machine. I would still be proud of it when finished with the later engine. Even with 7 figure funds, the pre 1913 Pierce Arrows are not easy to pry out of the hands of their owners. It usually takes an estate sale before one lets a machine like that go. In our neck of the woods we call it a floor sweeping car. Sweep up whatever left over parts from several other restorations and build one more. I'm ok with it, as it great to see such rare machines running down the road. motoringicons
What a great car for someone to finish. It would also be fun to put a big gas tank behind the seat, a couple of spare tires, get it running and drive it like it is!

Dandy Dave
Would it be welcome in a HCCA tour??? In this state it would be registered by the motor number which is a 1916 model year. One year over the pre 16 rule. Or because most of it is 1910, would they let you roll with it? Dandy Dave!
trimacar
Well, I'm sure that there are plenty of Model T speedsters that go on HCCA tours, with later engines.I can't imagine this beast wouldn't be more than welcome, right engine or not it'd be a pretty car when done... R Walling
On the humorous side, can you picture getting a title for this car at the RMV? In California, isn't there a law that this would be crushed because the serial pales have been removed? I know that in Ma, they would just say NO! it can't be tittled , because I said so! thats why! LI_BENTLEY
Sell it to me cheap can be titled in NY no problem, only need rubbing of serial no. and pay sales tax. This will get tenp. registration that becomes title in one year.
